I did this 2 days ago and it does indeed sound better. That cover was a bit of a pain to get off.

**FYI, lift the side facing the cabin off first, there are lips on the opposite side that slip under the windshield side of the console.**

....The sound system is still very lacking for this car!!

It might not be that big of a deal though... there's tabs on the back side (closest to the windshield that you can see in the bottom of your pic above) that hook under the opening and with the two you haven't dropped, that should keep the grill stable in there.

Option 2 (but somewhat dishonest): replace the grill and go to the dealer complaining that there's rattling coming from that area of the dash when you're driving around. Say you don't know where it's coming from but it sounds like it's under the center grill. Let them 'discover' the missing tabs and they'll replace it for you.
Karmas a bitch. Careful.

Haha, took the words right out of my mouth...

Definitely the best sub-5 minute mod, IMO.

I unplugged my speaker too, I think it is a huge improvement. Also like some of you guys I do notice a little more bass.
I turned the midrange to 0, left the base and treble at the stock settings, seemed to work

Just unplug it. That's what I did.

You have to read the whole thread. Remove the speaker and unplug it. It's simple really.

This mod is just for the center speaker in the BA system. The non-BA stock system does not have a center speaker in the dash.

dxy2jbaby The wire is located on the AMP in the trunk quarter panel drivers side....

EVERYBODY else....Take it from a professional installer who has built many award winning systems... ALWAYS keep the treble, mid and bass as low as possible. When we tune a system, for shows or daily use, we start out FLAT and adjust the amps up from there. Remember, BASS=distortion in week systems. Keep the bass down and the volume up and adjust it from there!

I am with a lot of others here, DEFFFF to higher freq's so my treble is at 6 and mid at 4 and bass at 2 or 0, depending on the XM station!

In my own opinion, I think the BA system sounds great for a stock system. I have heard the AMP upgrade and WOW what a difference that made. And for a plug-n-play harness to install the amp, what a GREAT product!

Just my .02

What I'm reading is interesting but I'm noticing it's 2010s for the most part. Is there any difference in the BA system from year to year or would it possibly benefit me to try this too?

I personally think the system is pretty good for stock but if there's no difference between the '10s and '11s I'll give it a shot

Hey Slick I have an '11 and unhooking the center speaker made a significant improvement in sound quality. It's the same BA system as the '10. Do it and see for yourself...
