overkill tune question

so my shop went to tune my car today and he said theres no tune on the autocal just stuff that says e37 e38 and that I need to send in a file for my tune? I thought my tune was preloaded on the tuner and that's why I have overkill my mods and that my car was a auto?

Pretty much all tunes require a “pre reading” before your actual real tune is sent. Essentially what you’re doing is letting Will know how your car is running now so he knows what to adjust and how much to adjust. Otherwise he would’ve just blindly sent a tune without knowing how your specific car is running. You would have to connect the handheld tune and set it to record and drive for about 10 minutes so he can see how it is currently performing. This is something “true, real” tunes require and is not just something Overkill does. Something that comes preloaded is a canned tune.

You will need to take your handheld back and record your data and email it to Will. From there he will send you a transmission and engine tune and you will upload both and see how you like it. If it’s feels good than thats it, you’re done, but if you want something else changed or it’s not feeling as you thought you can email him and he will revise it and send you another until you love one. I think at this point you should just take your car back from the shop since everything is really done on your end now. It’s also good learning experience if you need to change your tune or use the handheld. It’s a little intimidating at first, but it’s nothitn crazy and if you know how to use a computer, use files and email it’s something you can do. There’s also videos up on youtube on how to do it.

I’m not sure in this situation, but from my experience most engineering type software or software like this is Windows based. Apple is great for graphic design work, but terrible for programming or analytical software. Again, not sure if this is quite the case here, but you might reach out to the people whose software it is and see what they have to say.

^Don't waste any time on that. You need a windoze computer to get the app loaded and working properly. I suggest Parallels to allow a VM (virtual machine) on your Mac, and then you can load an old copy of Windoze 7 into the VM. I have this on my work Mac, and run the app and autocal through it - no problems from Will with the tunes (other than the obvious ones - did you get my email? It's been 6 weeks now. What's going on Will? Answer your f'ng emails!)

.exe’s such as the one you downloaded are meant to be ran on windows, HOWEVER. Mac has something called “wine” that you can install, and it allows you to run most exe’s without having a windows pc
