14/15 SS hood vent

I want to get some more heat out of the engine bay and decided I'd go ahead with my plan of cutting into my perfectly good hood. It seems easy enough to do. Never done anything like this before but the benefits are too great to ignore.

This may seem like a silly question but I see a variety of these hood vents priced as low as $70 on ebay. Are they all the same as OEM or is there a clear difference in quality??

I'm thinking maybe I'll buy one of them on ebay and have it painted yellow... I'll leave the mesh grille area black though. It might look more tasteful as opposed to all black.

I'm also open to other vent options that may look better for my gen 5. I've never been a fan of the 14/15 vent but I do know it works very well and it's cheap and easy to do.

Check out Track Spec. I just purchased a hood vent setup from them for my C5 Z06. Good quality items. Comes with hardware and templates.

Thanks man, I'll check them out as well. I'm leaving my options open now because once I cut into this hood, it's a permanent mod. Gotta be 100% sure on the vent style before I commit to this project.

Do something completely different, check out VIS carbon fibre hoods. Lose weight and gain air flow. Once I get my current collection of suspension parts installed, seriously considering going with VIS AMS style hood. Instead of more engine updates do something for looks and performance. Just my thoughts

Thanks brother. They make my favorite style hood. Reminds me of the Viper hoods. The only reason I'm keeping the stock hood is due to the factory carbon fiber stripes that come with the 2012 Transformers. Otherwise, if the car is ever in a wreck, it's getting a VIS hood. Any way I can shed weight from the front end is a win.

About a year ago I saw that a woman in Norther Cali had put the AMS on the same car I have. She used front hinges so that it looked like a 'Vette with the hood up. It was fire on a black 2010 2SS/RS
