Knurled Bead Seats

Probably 98% of you are asking WTF???

The C&D article notes: "Engineers told us they were experiencing radical tire-bead slip to the tune of a full rotation or more during hot lapping, so they successfully devised a system of knurling the bead area to keep the tires tight."

See pic below to see what it looks like.

So that is a really nice touch for those of who are avid trackers and hate losing wheel balance after the first few laps because the tire rotated on the rim. I say "Thank you Chevy!" because this is another tweak that shows how tuned in the engineers are to those of us who plan to track the car. Now I can go thrash it and not have the wheels hopping around on the drive home.

Well done, once again Chevy. Some of us truly appreciate the detail and thought you are putting into the Z/28.

Ray's/Volk Racing offers knurled bead seats on their $2000 a wheel Porsche centerlock application.

That sounds pretty bumpy. They probably won't be as comfortable as the Recaro seats that are optional in the 2014 SS.

No effect on tire mounting/dismounting. The reason no one offers it on current cars is because it is expensive, and until now, no one gave a crap about trackers.
