UPDATE: (SOLD) Anybody sold/traded a 2012 yet?

Has anyone sold or traded a 2012 yet? Im curious to see what i would get out of mine. I think i may be approaching that point, as ive just found out i will probably be a daddy x2. So, Im looking at getting something much cheaper (hopefully half my payment now). Probably will end up being a G8 GT if i can find one priced decently. I would still have v8 performance, but 4 doors etc for the family. Another reason im going this route, is because cheaper payments would hopefully aid me in getting a home loan by freeing up income/credit- which i plan to apply for after working the vehicle situation out.

So, has anyone traded/ sold one, and if so what did you get on the sale?

UPDATE:

Found a grey g8 gt at a dealer in virginia a couple days ago, and rode out there yesterday. Ended up with a 2009.5 g8 gt with 10120 miles on it. Sold my camaro and got 31500 out of it. Managed to talk the dealer down to 24k on the g8- only thing i wasnt happy with, was the interest rate, but thats what refinancing is for. Payments are 100 less a month, and my loan is about 10k smaller now. Overall, i miss the stick shift..ALOT..but as i told my fiance it wont be the last camaro i own ( cant wait for the 6th gen!). Overall..i love the looks and features the g8 has...beautiful car and reminds me alot of a BMW, plus its got awesome power, and gets 21+ mpg. Ill still be around here..as ive already planned a few mods out based off what my camaro had. ill post pictures next chance i get.

Haven't traded a 2012 (or do I own one, lol), but G8 GT's are awesome! A couple of my friends have one and they are pretty badass. Definitely a great choice for a "family" car!

Look at getting about 34,000 and so on trade in. Ive seen a couple on autotrader going for 33,000 to 36,000 used. 2SS/RS with just a couple hundred miles. Both are now sold though.

I've got about 7k miles on mine, so 33k would be a great mark. I think I can pick a g8 gt up at around the 20 mark

Re-sale of 2012's already, wow.

I understand your reasons though and that is good of you. I'd be in the same boat if my Camaro was my DD and if I managed my finances a bit better.

I saw a used 2012 2SS/RS loaded on the showroom of the dealer that I bought my Camaro at listed for $36k with 500miles on it. There is a huge markup on trade-ins the dealer probably gave them close to $30k for it. Dealers make more money on used cars than their new cars.

But good choice with the G8. If it was still being made I would have given that serious consideration before buying my Camaro.

For convertibles? Sounds a little low to me.

I actually looked at one back in 2008 or 09- almost bought it, but wanted a manual. Went with the 10' camaro 2lt. Just a change in priorities for the time being..i plan to own a 6th gen in the future though.

Nope 2SS/RS coupe, I was interested in one of them and it had lots of GM accessories too. I was shocked to see how cheap it was.

You'll love the G8 GT. My wife had one and it was a fantastic car. Lots of room, great power, great ride and a huge trunk for carrying stuff. Oh she traded it in for a Cadillac CTS.

There's food for thought, the CTS is a hot car, but how about that CTS-V? It also comes in a wagon configuation too

One thing worth mentioning here is your planning to apply for a mortgage soon after working out the new car. This is not a very good idea. If you trade your car and get a new one. You will have a brand new note. Sure it will be cheaper but, the note itself will be brand new and your credit will take a nice temporary hit.

Your credit will recover back to normal in about 6 months or less in most cases. One golden rule is NEVER open a new credit line right before a mortgage application. Your score will be lower than it is now and you will either pay more for the mortgage in interest or not even qualify at all depending on what your score is now and how much of a hit it takes. It varies by individual but you can take a hit of up to 50 points immediately after a new note. You would be almost certain to no longer be considered an "A" credit borrower as a 50 point hit would drop even an 800 score to 750 and that will not cut it for the very best rates possible. The results would be even worse for the avg good credit person with something like a 750 midddle score.

Just something to seriously think over before jumping the gun. If your not looking to get into a home until maybe 6 months down the road then it's ok to do this now.
