Anyone remember the excitement level of the Mustang in 2005? - Camaro5 Chevy Camaro Forum / Camaro ZL1, SS and V6 Forums

People have reported here the celebrity attention their Camaro has attracted. Was this the case when the retro Mustang was debuted in 2005?

What I remember was that it took me about 4 months before I was sick of the Mustang. Prior to its release I had downloaded many pictures of it because I thought the car was very handsome, looking a lot like the 1977 Aston Martin V8 Vantage. Then barely 4 months after its release and I was thinking "enough already!!!"

But my question is: did the 2005 Mustang garner the same attention that the Camaro is getting now, or was it more of a muted excitement like the Hyundai Genesis coupe (where people thought "cool" rather than "wow") ??

It's better to get an answer from a Camaro owner's perspective, to be able to understand any comparison or contrast in the public's general response to the two cars.

But if you have people who are strictly camaro fans, they may not know to much about the mustang. Looks like you got your answer above though.

If I recall correctly, people would always look at the new Mustang and appreciate it's much improved shape but that's about it.

People take photos of the 2010 Camaro and always stop drivers and comment about the car.

The car I think is getting a lot of attention for 2 reasons:

1. It went away for so long, and the concept has been in magazines and newspapers for years... the fact that the prod is very close to the concept helps.

2. Transformers!

I do recall... and i was excited about the new style blew away the last decade or two. But i think what killed it for me was all the 'cheap' looking mustangs out there, if you know what i mean.

With the Camaro, even the bottom end looks badass... not cheap by any means. I think the hibernation period helps as well... imo camaro's are still far and few between, as mustangs litter the streets (literally

)

Anyway... it feels good to see (nice) Stangs, Challengers, and Camaros back on the road. I missed the first go round.

No remember they did not stop production of the Mustang it has continued on since day one v.s the Camaro that took a vacation for several years.
