next mod?

I'm hoping to get some opinions on my next mod. So far, I have the Injen Short Ram and Corsa cat-back exhaust. From what I've read, it seems like headers might be the next logical step. It looks the the Doug Thorleys are supposed to be really nice. Advice?

Also, if I go with shorties, a tune isn't necessary, right?

thats right, a tune isn't necessary for the shorties. However, getting a tune after installing shorties may prove to optimize some aspects of the car. =) I don't know why people only tune for the CEL, tuning can improve many aspects.

A good step for modding none-the-less! =D

At some point, I might get a tune, but for now I wanna keep my warranty (or most of it, anyway).

If I just do the shorties and don't touch the cats, I shouldn't have any problems with emissions tests, right?

For everyone else who's tuned in: Does anyone have the Doug Thorleys with the Corsa exhaust? I'm wondering how it would sound, as it's already pretty nice now.

If you just changed the headers to shorties, it shouldn't touch your stock cats... so you probably wouldn't run into any emission problems. goodluck =)

The DT's will drop your exhaust note a bit. Still sounds like a V6 when its wound up tho. You will be pleased. Getting the Tune is very benificial but not necessary when going with DT's.

i think what he means by dropping exhaust note is that it will be deeper, not as high pitched...

D/T's made the car less boomy in around town driving in the 1-3000 rpm range and at idle a little more quiet. When you get on it it sounds just a little meaner and more of a defined growl, with the set up I have. At freeway speeds no more loud then before the exhaust I did. Now after the headers became seasoned I believe, but not confirmed it is due to the headers, that the car became more loud again, like when they say a catback will after x miles.

Thanks I would definitely recommend it. I've never dynoed, but I'm sure there's a slight boost in HP and TQ. Just as important, the sound is a lot better than stock.

Thanks to everyone else for all the comments too! Anyone know who's running the best deal on DTs? Can anyone recommend a shop around Cleveland, OH? I was going to just check with my dealer, but not sure if they will do it and/or rip me off

I had the DT catback setup and then added the DT shorty headers (I was the first install). Headers definitely reduced the drone and made the exhaust sound better. It's not quiet but it's smoother and better sounding.

I had a video on You Tube showing it but they've disabled my account and won't tell me why.
