Minimum safe tread depth for tracking Eagle F1 Supercar Cup 3?
Hi all,
I'm curious what is considered the safe minimum tread depth for tracking the stock Eagle F1 Supercar Cup 3 tires? I have done two track weekends so far (four days), and the outsides are wearing a bit thin. Only 2600 miles on the odometer total. The outsides are wearing to close to 2/32, but the insides and middle are still 4/32-5/32. I plan on getting the car in to adjust alignment to the track settings, but I'm curious if I need to replace the tires before the next track event too due to the outside wear. The rubber also seems to be getting a bit hard on the surface, any concern from that? Sidewalls seem fine.

Change alignment to max camber up front..should see -2.4 or so.. -1.5r. The outside is different depth and shoulder groove design ..may not be as worn as you think.. look closer..

This is what my front tires looked like AFTER my last track day. This was taken after those were taken off about a week later. They held up strong and I didn’t have any concerns. I had 3 track days and 12,500 miles on them. Pushed them as far as I could haha

You're exactly where I'm at after 3500 miles and 5 track days. You have more than 50% tread left since the main treads new are only 7/32 deep. That outside grove is more like a wear indicator than anything else, which can see from this pic of a new tire. I say you're good for at least another weekend or more but those with more experience than me will have more info

Fixing the alignment to track spec will help the tires last a little longer.

Same thoughts as per the above. Id also say watch for any signs of cording especially on the outside edges. Then they are done for sure.

Just FYI it's Supercar 3, not Supercar Cup 3.

I was confirming his thoughts on track alignment helping the tires last longer on the track. He didn't mention tire wear on the street.

Bringing back this old thread...
I see the holes in the outside tread block grooves, are those used as a tread life indicator similar to what a slick would have? |
