Flow Tie (full emblem delete)

So I looked through a bunch of reviews on the emblem swaps and the folks who cut out the middle of the bowtie badge itself, leaving the silver edge. I was not really a fan of what I saw so when I got my badge off, I went ahead and removed the backer all around. The result looks pretty darn good. Took me about an hour and a half with a very sharp knife. The grille is still very sturdy and supported, no issues there. More airflow is definitely a good thing.

Driving around town, 62 degrees out, my water temp gauge didnt get past the 1/3 mark after 30 minutes of driving. Is that the typical range for the water temp or is it usually in the middle?

Thanks! I'll try to snap one from far away but once you get far enough, it looks like it's all backed out pretty much.

I would but it's riveted on and I dont want a bunch of poorly fitting bumper plugs on there. From what I've read, filling the holes and painting it looks good temporarily until the holes sink in a bit when the filler shrinks, making it look even worse. I cant afford a new bumper and full repaint right now.

It would still look better with 4 holes in the bumper versus that.. trust me, freaking dealer mounted it on mine and I popped it out and it looks so much better.

I had the holes filed in and painted on my Cobalt. I had it for 5 years after, daily drive in all weather and parked outside. It never shrunk or sunk or showed at all.

Flow Tie looks good!

Beside...what you gain in air flow from your bow tie delete you lose from that front license plate holder blocking some of your air ways into your lower front grill.

You car looks great with the emblem removed! I have to agree with the others, loose the plate as that is the main item changing your front aerodynamics. If you go to a GOOD body and paint shop where they use enough material, let it dry completely and then sand you shouldn't have "filler gaps".

How hard is it to do the float tie. Damn I like that look. Plate holes suck. When I bought my Z I told them if they mounted a plate bracket on there I wouldn't by the car.

Is there a thread for DIY float tie or flow tie, what ever it's called.

For the flow tie, i used a screwdriver to pop out the bowtie. Comes out pretty easily. The backer is plastic. You simply use a very sharp knife, follow the bowtie lines and cut out the center. Not hard, just be patient and dont cut off a finger. Some parts of the plastic are thicker than others and the knife speeds up when it transitions. I had a close shave twice.. lol
