LS3 catless header tune

I finally decided to pull the trigger on some headers(thanks to my stimmy) I also decided that I would be tuning it myself with hp tuners as it seems pretty doable (correct me if I’m wrong) I’ve been researching the topic for a couple weeks already but I can’t find anything on how to tune for catless header though. Is it just correcting values to stay of the optimum AFR or do I gotta do something extra. Any tuners out there trynna help a beginner?

A couple categories down called - Tuning / Diagnostics- would be a better place to ask this question. HP tuners is a bit more complicated . In you case, a hand held SCT tuner would fit your needs better. You can get a tune from one of our quality sponsors sent to you just for your set up. You can download it and off you go.

Contact dyno Steve and do it right. He will send you a handheld scanner and will write a custom tune for you and it’s easy to download. Best part is his updates are free so whenever you buy something else just data log it with the tool he sends you and send him the file. He has updated my tune 4x already due to that and having a scanner to
Keep is great.

+1 on using DynoSteve for this type of tune.

Learning HP Tuners would be a great tool to have, but it's not going to happen overnight, no matter how quick you learn. It is a very in-depth and complicated program that can overwhelm even the most technology/mechanically literate among us.

Not trying to discourage you from learning HP Tuners. Just trying to let you know that it is not an easy program to just jump into unless you already have some tuning knowledge and really know what you are doing.

You’ll need a wide band gauge to measure fuel/air mixture. That’s what gets adjusted. Catted or Catless on the headers won’t affect the tune, but so as to not trip a CEL the down stream o2 sensors need to be commanded not to report. Search the repository on HPTuners for a tune closest to the mods. You have. There is a compare function that lets you see the different values between a stock tune and the tune you need. Thus enabling you to change your perimeters. There are mentors and having one is a great asset.
