Trade in for a different Camaro or keep and upgrade??

Hey y'all! I currently own a 2014 Camaro LS as pictured in my signature and it currently has 63,800 miles on it. I am really stuck in a dilemma as I love the look of my car and am wanting to upgrade it, but at the same time, am wanting a V8 with more power, leather seats, the whole 9 yards. I would still get a 5th gen V8 as I like the look better than the 6th gen's but am really just stuck on what to do. Do I put $3,000-$7,000 into a fully paid off V6 with almost 64k miles on it or just go buy a 2014 2SS with 50k miles and everything already fully upgraded for $27,999? Payment would be about $250/mo. I just don't know which is worth it? Thank you guys!

I would go with the V8 all day but that's just me. I've had nothing but V8's my entire life though. That being said I could never go with a V6 or 4 banger after owning nothing but V8's. But they do have their place in terms of fuel mileage and that would be something that you should think about. If you already thought about it and decided that's not a factor then I'd say go for it. Only thing I would say is that the automatics (l99) you have to deal with the afm stuff unless you get a manual trans with the LS3 unless you do a cam swap on the l99 that will get rid of the afm crap which you would want to consider with a higher mileage l99 and would need to factor that into your budget. Any questions just ask.

Another thing to think of is that you already know the history of your car, maintenance & other issues and how it's been cared for. On a used car, you have no idea of its maintenance history or how well it's been cared for (or abused). Not to deter you from getting the used car, just giving you something to think about.

Sell while the market is hot, wait until Jan 2022, and go shopping in the NE while we’re all buried in snow. It won’t be 2019 prices, but a bit better than current summer prices

Having had a few V6's as daily drivers (95 Firebird 2001 Firebird and a G8) its always nice to get home and into the V8 and drive it.

I never noticed much of a difference in fuel economy only that the V6's would run on regular but I never put that in them they got 91 or 94.

I say get the V8.

If the V6 puts a smile on your face the V8 will blow you away

Also how much are you gonna mod it. I knew over time I was gonna redo everything so that wasn’t the top of my priority and that’s why i dident care the car had 70k miles on it. But I lucked out and inside the glovebox the guy had every receipt from everything he did (there was over 30 receipts). He changed the oil every 3k with synthetic and changed every fluid multiple times, battery with factory one, brand new tires 200 miles ago plus flushes.

I was in the same boat, had a paid off 2013 1LS, hunted for a while and traded it in toward my 2012 2SS/RS. Way better to make that move than try to put the money into the v6.

Just try to have as much of the payment on the SS as you can. Remember financing a used car older than 6 years (since you are looking at only 5th gens) will be a higher APR for no real reason and the fear of something breaking and still needing to repair

I enjoyed my RJT v6 while I owned it but, always sank in the seat just a little when a v8 came across the intersection or came along side. The v8 puts you in the muscle car you envision. Go for it.

I got my car in 2016 for $23k OTD. It was a 2010 with 50k miles on it...see if you can shop around for a better deal.

As far as the V6 to V8 thing, I have never ever ever ever regretted getting the V8 over the V6.

After all these years on Camaro5 and seeing these threads a dozen times Ive concluded this.If you need to make a thread asking others if you should upgrade to a v8....you have already made up your mind. You are just looking for confirmation haha. Get the V8 and call it a day. You wont wonder anymore.
