> to clarify, your 95mph 1/8th time is N/A and your 104mph 1/8th time is with Spray, 104 is probably 10's, but then again, it's with spray. 95mph is upper-mid 11's (n/a), not bad for street tires to be honest, what power do you make?

the v6 one was definately different, if he's running 7.8's on street tires at 95mph (maybe some of the speed is attributed to spin), he's likely got an 7.3-7.5 (still not N/A in 10's though) in his build on the proper tire, with spray obviously should be 10's though, but i think for your guys's arguements sake, the spray slip shouldn't really be mentioned since the topic between you two was N/A vs N/A. spray changes the entire game.
Should make a trip to the land of the 5.0's at Sacramento Raceway. There is a bolt on 5.0 with slicks that competes with the local GTR's. It's no joke. He has no internal engine mods. Look up AED, you'll see what I'm talking about.

Or pop onto any mustang board and you can find tons of examples
30 seconds on s197 forum
2014 loaded glass roof GT
Tune, Circle D stall, o/r h-pipe, driveshaft, tires
Best 60': 1.59. Best 1/8 mile: 7.34 @ 93+. Best 1/4 mile: 11.57 @ 117+. 3800 lbs.

2012 GT premium
Tune
Circle D 5C
Xpipe
Wheels/tires
11.6@116

Or bolt on cars like this

4c converter
Boss intake
Airaid PJ CAI
47lbs. injectors
Kooks 1 3/4" headers with O/R x-pipe
Pump e85
BMR rear suspension
Lowering springs
Viking double adjustable rear shocks

definitely have seen 5.0's compete with GTR's and such, but they're all sc'd and/or sprayed down here from what i've seen. not very many, if any i've seen are just simple bolt ons. most of these guys can barely get out of the mid 12's.

I should clarify, i'm not saying it's not possible. i'm saying it's not the norm.

The norm to me would be like any john, jake or jill walks up to dealership, buys a 5.0, puts tires, intake, tune, exhaust (add your stall) and runs 11's; and i don't believe this is the norm. i'm sure there are some out there that have done it, you guys are living proof. but to sell the idea that it's normal, i just don't (can't) buy it.

But DA has to play a roll in these times (and hey, i'm all good and fine with factoring in DA or not, it's no personal reflection on me, and i don't expect others to even understand what DA is most the time - i was one of them, not long ago)

Anyways, nice slips, 11.9's is awesome for simple bolt ons. i can definately chalk it up as minor jealousy, i can definitely admit that. I just haven't come across any 'yet', personally.

Don't need exhaust.

It comes down to Autos FTW. I agree, most 5.0s I see are running mid 12s or slower. Some with way more mods. Mostly because the crowd they attract all want manuals, can't launch, and run 19-20" wheels because they are about the bling. Anyone can take an auto 5.0, throw a stall/tune/tires and crack off 11s all night long, but not enough people are smart enough to see how awesome the autos are.

exhaust always seems to get typed by default.

but yeah, auto's definitely have better likelihood.

I think the LS3 will win all the time bolt on mod for mod compared to the 5.0. However its the power delivery and higher rpm that the 5.0 can compensate for. One think certain in my experience is a supercharged 5.0 puts out much more than a supercharged LS3 due to higher compression. The only car that has ever beaten me was a newer 5.0 supercharged. I was not comfortable on how hard they pull when blown.

Bolt on, mod for mod, a ls3 may make more power, but that doesn't mean faster in a race. Solid axle, gearing, and a wonderful geared quick shifting tranny give the mustang one hell of an edge, not the mention weight difference.

Now if you are just comparing dyno numbers, I agree.

Yeah weight advantage plays a lot. For a base GT S197, it's an easy 350lbs weight difference. That is pretty substantial. That's how my buddy in his '12 GT could hang right by me with less mods.

I believe they are. Wish the camaro had an option for this, would save me a little coin when ordering a 15" kit coming up.
