If you look at the concept photos there are 2 stripes from the hood to the driver front tire. Those are the ones I was talking about.

Read the press release on the first page of this thread. No stripes are available with the flat black hood. They are confusing a lot of people by not showing real pics of the 1LE. There are other things on that car that didn't make production: blacked out front facia, side skirts, ZL1 brakes and magnetic ride. If you put them on your car it would look sweet though. I'm wondering if people are going to be able to cut the decal on the stock flat black hood to add the stripes. Look at the video from the thread I linked above and you will see a real 1LE for about 15 seconds.

It would probably be easier to just overlay the stripes onto the hood rather than try to pull off the stock decal or however GM applies the matte black finish.

Yeah, I thought about that but it probably wouldn't look right. You would probably have to buy an aftermarket hood wrap in combination with those stripes if you're going for a look that's real close to the concept.

I am hoping the black hood is a wrap because I'm gonna pull it off the first day.
If it is paint then we are talking about a whole lot of money and a risk of it not being a perfect match.

Secondly I will buy the zl1 rocker side splitters and paint those smoke grey.

What I really want to see is a blue ray metallic Camaro out in the sun to see how much different it is from the dark blue.

If the Matte Black hood is a vinyl overlay, with body-colored paint beneath, someone with a light touch and an Exacto knife could cut out the necessary area (as per concept), apply some heat, and pull up the "unnecessary" piece. Then apply the hash marks. A vinyl application specialist should be able to perform the "surgery" with little/no problems.

The "issue" would be: Is the hood painted/cleared, underneath the overlay?

What would also make for a "custom" look would be to apply body-colored stripes of your choice to the Matte Black overlay...

Yeah. I'm waiting to see more pics to figure out whether I'm gonna try to go the concept route or just remove the hood wrap. I think I've seen enough of BRM to know that I'll be getting a black one if a new blue isn't announced by spring 2013. Definitely would love to go with a 2SS but it could get pricey. Have to have the dual mode exhaust and RS package.

@ pyrolysis, Yeah, probably looking at $45k or so. The only way I can do that is if I go to Marchand Chevy and get $98 over invoice and try to time the incentives. Marchant will disclose dealer cash back while Hendrick, crews and mcelveen generally don't unless you are dealing with the Internet manager.

I'm gonna order from Becky but Marchant seems like a pretty good dealership. I visited there when the Camaro was first released and they had a customers SS on display for everyone to check out. Seemed like a nice small town dealership and that was who I originally planned on dealing with. Crews is the worst dealership I've ever dealt with and wouldn't buy so much as a floor mat from them. Anyways, I might be able to swing around $45k so we'll see.

How is that possible? Dealers aren't allowed to submit orders for 2013 Camaros until May 10th. It's also possible that the 1LE will be on constraint for a few months.

I was there looking at that car also. Prior to that they had a gm owned v6 that was there and they threw me the keys. I think the vin was in the 200s.
Bought a impala from them and they got the lowest interst rate and the car was $1000 cheaper than Hendricks plus I got leather.
My next Chevy will be from them. I was at cars and coffee in mt. Pleasant several months ago and A guy showed up in a 2012 slp 575 car that he ordered from Marchant and they only charged him $98 over invoice.

I am willing to bet that the hood wrap has paint underneath. They are doing the wrap to keep production cost down. Easier to wrap a standard SS hood than to pull it mid production. And all of the stripes get completed post production so it makes sense to ake a completed car and just do a wrap. Much like they do the stripes.

Pricing is not released, but I am figuring an MSRP of under $41000 and a $1000 GM card allowance, so it will end up under $40000.
