Front runners, how much faster?

So I am considering front runners for next year. Does anyone know what the gain is from front runners alone? I was thinking almost 2 tenths since the 20s are so freaking heavy! Anyone have some before and after?

Thinking 17" race stars with a 215/70 passenger tire. 28.9 tall that matches my rear height. Or 215/65 those are 28". They make these for mini vans and they are cheap!!

vs stock weight. Your nurburgrings are quite a bit lighter than OEM. You still see a weight drop, yes...but you will still also see a better drag coefficient for the front rollers. I still would bet you would see a tenth...maybe still 2...never can tell. Dropping rotating mass front and rear will show measurable gains at the track given exact same conditions.

Mike I had 20x9./275's up front and they were like 68 lbs I think. I think front runner + bias ply M&H is 31 or 35 lbs?

If you do a street radial up front maybe 40 lbs? I'm sure Sux2 will have some #'s.

I gained nothing in ET but it kept me from smashing into that wall at 130 mph because slicks with the radials up front was a recipe for disaster.

why would that be an issue? can you not mix radials and slicks?

You can have radials in the back and bias-ply up front, but not the other way around. It's dangerous.....so I've been told!!!

I have done it, yes it's not a good match! I don't think it's to bad on slower cars, my olds ran 11s and it just felt unstable on the top end. If it trapped any higher I would have removed the radials in the front. I only had it like that for one season, I won't ever do that again either.

Looked to me like that white car was breaking traction in several places then probably lost control after getting back into the gas. Typically running slicks out back and radials up front isn't gonna matter in that short of time and speed they were going. I ran them on my 67 Camaro up to 130 but yes it got very squirrelly on the top end. I eventually changed to bias on fronts.
