Put key in drivers door, unlock car.
climb into back seat, pull little loop on the top center of seatback.
climb into trunk, pull emergency release handle.

Many of us have been there and had the same DOH moment.

The key doesn't appear to unlock the door?

If you can get into the car you don't have to crawl into the trunk. I just popped the hood and used jumper cables on the engine compartment terminals and then opened the trunk via the button on the door. Been there, done that.

Have you ever lubricated your door locks with Triflow? I use the stuff once a year on my door locks, door hinges and door latch, hood hinges and hood release, trunk hinge and trunk lock. It comes with a little red tube that pushes into the key way. Give it a little shot of oil and then work your key back and forth a couple of times. It is in the owners manual where to lube and what to lube. They recommend to use a special GM lubricant. It is made by Triflow. It comes in a Black spray can. Just make sure to shake the hell out of the can.

I really doubt you have a key or lock problem. They just need a little TLC.

Good luck
Dimitri

That's strange, the trunk on my Cadillac opens when the power fails and you can't lock it. I thought that was the default on all GM products??
