Effects of K&N intake and removing mufflers but keeping cats

Effects of K&N intake and removing mufflers but keeping cats

SS 6M

This should boost HorsePower right? What are all the effects to doing this? Sometimes I think it might not boost HP but keeping it stock might be better because I never got a tune after doing this. I did remove the negative connecton from the battery though.

Exhaust wise, anything behind the cats is just for sound and IF you see any gains they will be minimal at best. She will get louder though, and possibly some more drone.

I have the KN Typhoon and love it. I also added high flow cats (Best bang for the buck) and a Borla Atak exhaust. Awesome!

I just installed my K&N Typhoon CAI this weekend, along with the magnaflow truflow xpipe and man let me tell ya, this girl s screams now !!!! I havee the L99 with the Pypes Pypebomb for exhaust and it is VERY nasty now. From a rolling start in first gear and nail the loud peddle it will "lite em up" for about 40ft until the tires hook and man it is awesome, never did that before the add ons except in the morning when everything eas cold..

It was the high flow cats and x pipe that really made the bottom end difference for me

Realistically - intake and muffler delete = 436hp.

But you get rid of some serious weight by removing the stock mufflers. That will slightly increase performance (10lb = 1hp). So you're basically increasing performance by a few HP, by just removing the heavy mufflers.
