Mine are also looking kind of old. What would be a good color to paint them on an IOM with polished 20's ? Grey again, black? red?

Regional rep from Eastern Massachusetts - don't know his name.
My fight was that they initially denied me and said it was cosmetic; nevertheless, if our paint had an issue (cosmetic) or seating issues (cosmetic) they would take care of it. So, Mr. Service rep. why not take care of this issue?

I was wondering if i could get the name of your service rep at Muzi Chevrolet, not the regional GM rep? I'm speaking with my dealer right now and forwarded some info on to them, but would like a contact at Muzi Chevrolet to see what they did different than my dealer. any help would be appreciated. Stoked they replaced those for you.

thanks very much.

In my opinion if the exterior paints fade is the dealer going to tell you it is cosmetic and make you live with a faded car? No, they will fix the problem. To me ALL paint should be covered the same. The only exception would be if they can prove you caused the problem or if it just really needs to be cleaned and not repainted, maybe thats what they meant by cosmetic?

Have they changed the material or paint on the new calipers that are being installed now? If not, they are just going to discolor again.

So I got the call today from my service rep at the dealer and he told me that his GM rep approved the caliper replacement. He told them rep that I own multiple GM vehicles and I am a very good customer so he approved it. Unfortunately I have to "agree" or sign something saying that it was caused by a corrosive material or cleaner when washing the vehicle and that they will only do this one time only. I don't agree, but that was the only way for the rep to be able to get the replacements approved in a quick amount of time. Otherwise i guess it opens a whole new can of worms involving Brembo. I'm sure it will be documented for other cases, but I'm just glad it's getting taken care of. The calipers are already on order so I'm really happy.

So if others experience this and the dealers say NO then don't accept that and call GM customer service. I think you'll be taken care of someway, somehow as I was.

By you signing this form it gives them ammo to say this problem is due to something the owner did and doesn't help. Like I said, unless they've changed the calipers they are just going to do it again.

Well both reps agree that it wasn't something I did, but according to what I was told with how many weird and odd things they see each day (owner inflicted and not) this was the quickest way to make the customer (me) happy. I honestly think that some of the calipers didn't get a clear coat or some finishing process when they were made. I have seen others with 5x as many miles and they look perfect. No cleaners were ever used on my calipers or wheels that would harm or tarnish them so I will just hope that the new ones will have the right finish and this won't happen again. That is about all I can do at this point and I got the end result I wanted, just not in the way I wanted. With a new baby and two businesses to run, I don't have time to fight it in any other way. If it happens again then I'll cross that bridge when I come to it. Bottom line is I asked them to replace them and they are so I'm happy (for now).

I just looked at mine, and they are discolorinng as well. 11k miles on them. I am the only one who has ever washed my car, and have never used any degreaser on them or anything. One is worse than the others. guess I will need to ask my dealer about it.

The dealer swapped mine out with new ones, but they are beginning to discolor again. only water being used on them so it's nothing I or the detailer are doing.
