How long will Avis keep the rentals?

Any one car to guess about how long they will keep the Camaro's before putting them up for sale?

Better question is would you want one? The things that will be done to those poor cars!

Yes I will consider one. I have a good steam vac with some oxy.

I am broke for one and like fixing up fixer uppers. Of course I would be looking for a deal $$$.

Favorite Cousin buys rentals all the time

He likes squeezing nickels and has always had good luck buying rentals from pick ups to performance cars.

Good summary except I have not got a car that's been in a rental fleet. Just curious more than anything. How long in the past do rental fleets normally keep vehicles?

edit: (lol didn't read your title thought you meant me.. cool cousin).

According to an Avis manager who works for me part time 12 to at most 18 months, depending on mileage.

Don't discount the fact that GM may have a buyback in place with Avis and the rentals will come back and be redistributed as "program cars" through their "key" dealerships....

If that happens and demand holds, you've got a whole fleet coming onto the market with low mileage and higher prices. You might be better off waiting and ordering a new one.

I work at Manheim auto auction in the Metro Detroit area, and we handle all the "Rental turn-ins" for most of the rental companys.I personally inspect these cars for damage, etc. Most of the rentals will have 15,000-25,000 miles on them.

For the most part these vehicles are in pretty good shape...but then again their are those that have had alot of previous repairs on them. Most of the damage consists of dings, scratch's,and small bumper gouges.

These vehicles sell for considerably less than the original MSRP price.Average term for rentals is one year,so basically they get new cars every new model year, depending on the company.

Believe it or not we have a silver 1LT at our auction right now getting bumper repaired. Many rental companys in our area use our auction for their repairs, because basically we can under bid most Bodyshops.
