Poss parasitic drain? Help!

So I think I may have discovered what is slowly draining my battery. When I lock the car and walk away, and horn sounds, and the alarm light on the dash starts flashing, the passenger side power door lock telltale LED also stays lit. If I completely unlock the car the car tends to go to sleep with no lights on. This happened doing absolutely nothing sitting in the garage, is it possible that a GM global reset would help this? battery is out of the car now being recharged.

I also noticed that the car no longer automatically locks and beeps when I get 10 feet away or wait the time. That feature is missing , nothing happens when I remove the fob from the car with distance. But this could have reset, when the battery was out of the car....

thread necro'd.

Did you ever figure this out? I'm having the -exact- symptoms and after 5 days of not driving I had to jump my car. Passenger LED stays on, the works.

What was the deal here?

Car is autolocking now when I walk away but the LED stays on. Double tapping unlock and letting it sit seems to actually put it to sleep like Glen said. This freaking car...

I frowned a little when this seemed to start happening earlier today, but eventually the passenger door LED went off on its own after locking the car with the fob. It takes much longer than everything else, though. How long did you wait?

(I distinctly recall reading about these timeouts somewhere recently, but didn't bookmark the site )

ALL Late model cars have a constant parasitic battery drain.

Its the nature of today's beast.

Very true… But the car still has to be able to get by being in an airport parking garage for two or three weeks, and some of our cars are not even getting a week… There is some problem with the car. I have no idea what it is. I just disconnect mine if it’s gonna be sitting longer than 10 days.

Mine has been sitting the past couple of weeks in my garage with the really cold weather here in NC and a little bit of ice with all the salt brine on the roads. I had started it up a few times and let it run a little bit, no problems with it. I do this a few times a year, especially during our short winters here.

+1

My single battery Silverado won't make it more than a week.

My Duramax won't make it 10 days.

Even though GM's ECM should initiate a hard disconnect below 11V(?) it doesn't.

I installed battery savers to solve the problem.
