It is slow here but far from dead.
Glad to have this forum. A great source of info on the Z28. |

1 year anniversary of my ownership today and I still talk about how much I love this car. 100% sure that won't ever change.

Keep in mind most other forums are filled with subject matters concerning the troubles experienced with their cars, i.e., Corvette forums = overheating issues, bent stock wheels, limp-mode....Dodge forums, maintenance and warranty nightmares, etc.).
And since the Z/28 is 98% trouble-free, there's really nothing else except row its gears! 11,457 miles so far and still loving every second of its 675HP roar |

This car is a bad hombre and very limited so won’t see too many modified they are all sitting in storage mostly and being garage art. But they are probably one of best care of this decade.

Yes, especially the competition part. I don't have a road course anywhere near me, so I do what I can. Too bad most owners have never pushed their car to the limit in a corner to see what it's really capable of. Most just take them out and cruise with them. Others just have them tucked away.

Here, the cars are relatively new and not many issues plague them. Those that are, are covered for the most part under warranty so not alot of chatter about folks fixing themselves. NO NEED or should I say, minimal need. I'm coming up on my 2 year anniv of ownership, but i'm still only on 1 oil change, 1 gear oil change, first set of Trofeos. I'm here quite a bit, but I can only say how bad ass this car is so many times. Well, second thought, I could/should do it alot more... Topics I'm looking at now are basically what my DFW brothers are doing, Tire threads, car cover which I'm looking for.. Other than that, I'm glad my car has no issues to talk about. Knock on wood. Go to the Hellcat Forum, see how much chatter is over there. Lot's of issues that they talk about freely My other "weekend car" is a 79 928. I'm on the Porsche 928 forum (Rennlist) regularly. Over there, the newest model is now approaching 24 years old, so Lots and lots of DIY maintenance topics, fixes, wheel/tire upgrades, performance upgrades, issues over time and mileage, etc.... My 928 is about 40 yrs old now so I'm sharing ideas, getting info, doing tons of DIY fixes, maintenance, etc.. As the second wave of owners get hold of these Z/28s, I think you'll see an uptick of chatter. As the cars fall out of warranty, I think you'll see more chatter about DIY fixes. They are now way more affordable than they were 2-3 yrs ago, so I think you'll see more folks picking them up. That's My 2 cents worth.. I'll do my part and try to be more involved here! |

Although I have a 2014 SS, not a Z/28, I still enjoy coming here to read the wealth of knowledge that has been deposited here over the years. I’m not rich and I’ve worked a lot for my mods so having the site here is amazing so that I can refer to it whenever I have questions about my installs, what to do next, etc. also, being the last generation is nice because many of the mod parts are now discounted!

My Z/28 is modified and not garage art, so you can exclude this one. Many here have modified theirs also and either drive them daily or race them on a regular basis. I bought my Z/28 to drive and enjoy it, probably just like you.

See? Far from dead. lol
However, I do have to contend with "old car, even older engine". 3-4 years old since its release is not old. Also, longevity of design of the engine doesn't equate to bad.. I've never understood that mindset. The LS7 is a work of art. Anyone that says otherwise is sadly misinformed. The LS platform is just so damn versatile, and proven. While the ZL1 1LE is amazing, and it truly is... a lot of what they learned for that car came from building this one. With that said, the surprising lack of issues that plagued the beginning years of the 5th gen are noticeably absent, which leads to less of the "My Car is doing XYZ and HELPPPP" posts. Post up pictures. Post up experiences. Road trips, track excursions, I did THIS to my Z28... post it. Share. |
