Z/28 all around street tire inc cold temps and occasional wet weather

A very good deal on a new Z/28 has come up that I have to jump on quickly to close.

I live in Manhattan. I will not track this car, street cruises only.

I want to take the Trofeos off and order new tires appropriate for all season temperatures and occasional wet driving when caught in the rain, to be installed on the car when I pick it up.

In speaking with an irritating Tire Rack person, he says there is no high performance A/S tire in stock sizes for the Z/28 available in his inventory.

While I would enjoy going through the different tire threads on this Forum to come up with a solution, I am out of town for work and need some answers quickly.

So, Camaro 5 Friends, what solutions are available to me? Can I get stock sizes or do I have to go with non stock sizes? What is recommended for my needs?

Thanks,
Ken

"irritating Tire Rack person" isn't really wrong, everything in a 305/30R19 is a summer performance tire. The closest thing I can find to what you're looking for is the Continental Contiwintercontact (yes, that's how it is on the site) TS830 P, which is a performance winter/snow. It's in a 295/35R19, which can be stretched onto a 11.5" wheel.

The person I dealt with was not irritating because he did not have any suggestions, but because he had a condescending, impatient attitude.

If you decide to sell your Trofeo's
I am interested in buying them.

Thanks
Michael

Are any of the summer tires available in the stock Z/28 sizes a decent amount better than the Trofeo's regarding dry, colder temperature driving and the occasional wet drive when caught in the rain?

I want to be able to cruise during the Fall and Winter on dry, nice days and on the rare occasion when I get caught in the rain, not put the car in a ditch.

And yes, I have only had Camaro's, Mustangs and Corvettes my whole adult life, so I know how to drive these cars. My current Corvette Grand Sport is absolutely no problem in the weather I have described on its OEM Goodyear runflats. I want the same from the Z/28.

Are we talking about the tires we always hear about; Michelin Pilot SuperSports, Michelin PS2's, etc?

I've driven on my Pilot Super Sports when it was in the 30s with a dusting of snow on the roads and they were fine, although I definitely took it easy. They're beasts in the rain, so as long as you have something else for when it's below freezing with snow or ice outside, you'll be fine. You can get the PSS in a 305/30R19. I mistook your desire for an all season to mean that you'd want to drive the car when there's snow, which I wouldn't do on these.

+1. My Michelins PSS worked great when I was caught in a sudden rain storm this fall. I normally just drive on nice days.

+1 on the Conti DW. The tire is EXCELLENT in the wet. it is the go to DOT 200+ treadwear rain race tire. I have used it on a few of my cars with awesome results. cold temps are ok, but obviously no snow or ice.
