305 30 20
From the old vets on this forum just wondering how
The guys made out or still making out by putting the 305s on your stock wheels?? Not tryna bring up this old debate but a lot of guys did it and loved it. Just wanna make sure it held up until now before I do it.

Its definitely debatable, as the bigger size does not always mean better traction. I am no expert but understand that the contact patch changes with width. It would be interesting to hear what everyone's experience is with that set up. Could have some pros, could have some cons.

Check out @pt1less on instagram. He's running a super wide tire size on the 1LE rims, I think like 325s lol, had to do the driver side wire mod but that's literally a 5 minute job. In my experience a warm pilot sport tire/P zeros for 305s grips great.

305's on a stock 9.5 inch wheel is pointless and will bulge out. If you want a 305 size tire, the wheel should be no less than 10.5.

I assume this refers to stock SS wheels? Pictures with size details would be great if anyone can post them up. I’m interested in moving away from the stock GY, but haven’t saved up enough for the move to Z28 replicas yet. 😉 |

The only exception is certain autocross classes where you are allowed to go wider than stock with the tire size but the wheel width is limited to stock. Not a good setup to DD on. I'd be uneasy about putting 305/30's on 10.5's, and even 11's are none too wide. But if I'm buying 305/30's at all, it's going to be for cornering feel and potential. Norm

As for 305/30's on 10.5's, let's just say I've never been a fan of running tires on wheels of min-recommended width. Just so you know, "never" reaches back almost to the very beginning of the 2nd gen F-body . . . Norm
