How often do you wash/wax your car. Danger?
I have become a fanatic to keep my black car looking shiny everyday. I won't even let the slightest bit of dust settle in. However, in Nevada it is frowned apon to wash your car, so we have to use car washes. Are they bad for the paint? And if so, how often should I wax?

I hand wash my car weekly. I usually go 2-3 washes between wax because I use the liquid wax and it will come offer after about that long.
There is nothing wrong with washing your car consistently as long as you're doing it with the right soaps, right washing applicators, and right waxes. Also, make sure you're doing it on a cool car in the shade.

Car washes are TERRIBLE for your paint. Using them once a year is too much.

I live in Vegas and the only restriction I've seen is your water hose must have a cut-off, you can't just use an open hose. I wash my car here weekly to every 2 weeks. I wax probably every 6-10 weeks or so.

I have taken to using a rinsless wash, Optimum No-Rinse, and if you use the right technique, it is fantastic and uses only a gallon of H2O. You can hardly beat that!

I've not tried the waterless. Will check it out.
Been using Zaino for years and it is the best product I've ever used on my cars. The Z2 polish does a great job repelling dirt. With three coats, I can go all year on a single application, and wash about once a month, wiping down between washes with the Z6 gloss enhancer spray. And I'm fanatical about my car. Zaino goodness

I wash my car by hand usually about two to three times a month, more if needed. I try to keep it clean period, but you want to wax your car as often as it needs it. If you look under a light for water spots in the paint, or just something that looks not quite right. Go ahead and hand wash your baby, then towel dry it with a terry cloth towel that has been washed without any fabric softener. Once your done wax it with a good quality wax. I prefer Meguiars cleaner wax. I've used them all, and this seems to be the best wax out there. Just sayin.

I mainly use Meguiar's Ultimate Quick Detailer spray. For the wheels, I either hand-wipe or use my power sprayer to get rid of brake dust. I only wash it if I get caught in an unexpected rain storm, but I usually only drive it in good weather. When I wash it, I do it by hand, two bucket method.

I wash my Camaro every other week if the airs stays dry. Keeping your car clean is a must cuz it's the dirt on the paint that is what scratches it. If you take your car to an automated car wash at least find one that they hand wash instead of using machine brushes instead and have your cars paint waxed and buffed twice per year. My self I usually have a hand wash do mine and have them wax it down good every 4 months. Mail Clerk |

wash weekly, wipe down with detail spray or spray wax between washes, wax once a month from April to November. use a winter wax like Collinite 476 when parked from late November to April.
