That looks like enough damage to file a claim. You don't want to dick around the person who's property you damaged.

Don't always assume the vehicle in front of you won't stop suddenly. Maybe a skunk ran on to the road, bicycle, they may have heard a siren, etc.
Great advice!

Especially about the not following too close, you should always give someone enough room. You never know what they might do, might be ahead, etc... Also if you're behind the wheel, no matter the speed PAY 100% ATTENTION! At those low speeds (or even higher speeds) its easy to get distracted, just remember you're driving a 4k lbs killing machine.

OK, enough lecturing. Let's get back to happy Camaro times

I would doubt the damage is under 500.00. The bumper is probably 350.00.. If you don't want to involve ins take it to repair shop and get an estimate. Then make your decision

I was afraid of that 1100.. good luck, I hope it doesn't turn out like my wife's accident they found more problems and the cost skyrocketed. I had to use insurance.

Well, not just the 1100. You or your insurance will likely have to pay the cost of the damage to the other vehicle as well. 9 times out of 10, you rearend another vehicle, you are considered at fault for following too close. Someone rearends me, neither I, nor my insurance company are likely to pay a dime of that repair. I had a bright red Cherokee Sport in the late 90s that was a magnet for getting rearended. I would just be sitting at a light and BAM. Happened 3 or 4 times. Never once paid for any of those, always the other driver or their insurance.

I'd try to find a nice aftermarket ZL1 bumper...perhaps from a vendor on this forum!

Gotta find a silver lining somewhere when accidents happen
