Finally a TR6060 2nd gear build thread!!!!

Ok, I know there are a lot of you out there with the TR6060 with the 2nd gear grind. I finally got my hand on one with this issue. I'm building this unit for T&T Perfomance. They are a supporting vendor here and if you need any mods or upgrades, don't hesitate to contact Tim for any if your needs. I took my time to disassemble this 2010 unit with 5K miles on it. Have a look for yourself. This unit will be getting carbon blockers on 1-4 gears and bronze fork pads on 1-6.

Ready to tear into it.

The tailshaft housing is off.

The reverse/6th and 5th gears are off.

The main case is off.

Everything is out!

All the parts on the table.

The 1st gear blockers on the left; 2nd gear blockers on the right. Take a close look at the right blockers. Can you see the blue marks on the rings? They got very HOT!!!!!!!!!!!

Close look on the 2nd gear blockers.

The mainshaft is completely disassembled.

Sintered bronze blocker on the left and carbon on the right.

I'll take some pictures on the assembly tomorrow. Most important, I'll get some feed back from the owner with the way this thing shifts after he gets it back. Stay tuned.

Will do, and thanks again.

What about the carbon ones solves the issue?

No problem. GM still doesn't have any TSB's or PI's regarding this issue.

I have done this conversion on few TR6060 equipped Z06 Corvettes with great success. I think the combination of main shaft preload and carbon blockers really did the trick.

Unfortunately the dealer I brought mine believes what I'm experiencing may not be an abnormality and just the nature of the beast. Anyone you can recommend in the Bay Area, CA area Rick?

What I've found is the issue with the 2nd gear. You are probly ussing a thinner blocker and loosening up preload.I actually machine the gear itself for less preload.( the cone part)Found this issue started about 2 years ago with the 2nd gears in alot of these tranny's and replacement 2nd gears.
