ZL1 steals a Vette sale!

Just had to share - my old neighbor, who's had I don't know how many Vettes in a row, last one being C6 GS with Hennessey SC, was going to get new Z06. I met up with him about a month ago and showed him my little V6, he really liked the interior.

Just found out today, he put a deposit down on a ZL1. Not good for Chevy, but good for us!

Gonna happen. My buddy Tim just canceled his 2017 Z06 2LT order when he found a ZL1 allocation avail last week in Quebec.. He's gonna have it shipped down once she comes in! He saves almost 40k Canadian getting ZL1 vs the C7Z

You know Chevy makes both of them? Instead of the money going in the left pocket it will go in the right.

Henessey ran them side by side and the ZL1 stayed with the Z06. The 350 pound heavier weight difference that the Camaro has did not make much difference on the head to head.

I would think it's about profit margin...

I'd assume that the Vette profit for GM is higher, but who knows... You know what happens when you assume

GM must be planning for a big bump in performance for the 2018 Vette program. I can't imagine they would let the ZL1 be this close or in some cases better than their flagship car. Great time to be a car enthusiast.

I figured it's because the next Gen vette is gonna be mid-engine so now the front engine rear wheel drive camaro is getting the hand me downs which is not a bad thing at all

GM makes $5120 on a base ZL1 and $13465 on a base C7Z06. So yes they are losing $ on anyone who moves over on a decision ...

It's because the ZR1 is on its way back with a rumored 700-750 HP and who knows what other kind of goodies besides the awesome looking new hood and Viper ACR type wing.
