Powdercoat prep?

For those of you that powdercoated your factory wheels.. How did you prep them? Paint stripper or powder/sand blast clear coat off?

I sand blasted mine, but I have access to a sand pot on an everyday basis. If you blast them yourself be sure to use a really fine abrasive like sugar sand. Also you should operate at the lowest air pressure as possible as not to create too deep of an anchor profile. Most powder coaters will do some sort of surface prep and most prefer abrasive blasting. Keep in mind that as with all coatings surface prep directly affects the performance and life of the coating.

Some will media blast of some sort. Or like the one I use to work at here in the DFW area, they may just use and oven to bake off the old paint, and then shoot them. This should all be taken care of by whoever is doing the work.
