Can I legally run without mufflers in Texas on a 2010?
I think I can though I am not sure. I think only catalytic converters are required.
Thanks for putting up with all my question! I'm getting within a couple weeks to a couple months of getting my 5th gen and I'm a little OK A LOT excited and trying to narrow down my options on what I can do and what I'm looking to buy!

Yes, you can legally run without mufflers. You are correct that "legally" you have to have the original cats in the original location...
There are many people that change to high flow cats, or eliminate them completely. This creates a problem when getting an inpsection for some... There are several solutions but this is not the place to discuss that... If you are in Dallas or Tarrant county, I believe those are sniffing counties, I may be wrong... The problem comes in with people thinking they can just drive to a non sniffer county. This is not true, as the car has to be inspected to the level of the county it's registered in... Again, some manage to get around that as well....

All you need is to be able to pass emissions.

Thank you guys! I am in Denton county. Highflow cats would be OK I spose I would like to see how loud she is with out mufflers, I may want some really high flow mufflers. I do not want to compromise my warranty though I'd like to mod to the extent I can with in those requirements, pully, intake, headers and exhaust just to name a few, I'd like a short throw shifter and some suspension upgrades, I'd like to shift to whatever gear I want. I believe I can accomplish all this without voiding warranty.

Actually you have to have mufflers. If a inspector does a visual test and does not see them they can fail you. Just had someone fail on a Dodge truck for the very same reason.

Texas does require mufflers. If you don't want them, just get glass packs. They will blow out over time while allowing you to maintain your inspection. That's what I run on my truck.

maybe but it seems awfully subjective when you consider the fart can ricer mobiles... I've heard lots of muffler deleted Camaros and Mustangs that were nowhere near as loud... oh well....

Yep no db levels yet. U r required to have one and the inspectors r suppost to check. I havent done state inspections ib 10yrs and remember that. Diesel trucks r the worst about it.

I suppose I was referring to the muffler to prevent blah blah noise...That's very subjective...

Yes, you must have mufflers for state inspection. They are supposed to visually inspect the car for mufflers. I was told that technically, the stock resonators in front the rear axle are considered mufflers.
