No way! Chevy should let the Camaro nameplate die after the 2024 production ends if they plan on building a Camaro SUV.

I just don't understand why they keep talking about a Camaro SUV. We already have the Blazer which has a lot of Camaro inspired design elements to it. Soon we'll have the EV Blazer SS, why would they need to make a Camaro EV SUV. It doesn't make any sense, but then again nothing GM has been doing lately makes any sense.

Only reason I read this tripe is because of Fran, otherwise I would've stopped right at the author's name, before the article itself. Nothing but speculation and I bet chatgpt made serious contributions to the end result.

To begin with that article is just a page full of ifs, woulds, coulds, might bes, and wouldn’t it be great ifs….. so there’s nothing to be excited about.

Secondly, the Camaro nameplate should die and remain completely, irrevocably, and indefinitely 100% dead if it does not come back as a 2 door sport coupe with 4 seats, a gasoline burning internal combustion V8 engine with NO hybrid or other alternative propulsion, and a true 3 pedal manual transmission as an option.

Anyone who thinks anything else about the Camaro is not a true fan nor do they understand what the truck a muscle car is.

I have no room for such negativity in my life

When they launched the Lamborghini SUV outsold any other lambo by many times.
People feel "Safe" if they're higher up and can see over other cars. Compensates for lack of driving skills.

Until other cars are all SUV's. Then we need higher cars. Double Deckers EV are coming soon

Yes but Lamborghini also continues to sell the lineage of exotic that got them on the map in 1968. They know where their bread is buttered.

So does Porsche. When they announced they were going to collaborate with VW to make SUVs the Porsche faithful brought their torches and pitchforks to Stuttgart. But they assured everyone the 911 wasn’t going anywhere nor would it be diluted.

And now just a few weeks ago Porsche doubled down on the 911, stating they will ALWAYS offer it with a gasoline flat 6 and a true 3 pedal manual transmission, and confirmed they’re investing millions into its future development as the car that made Porsche what it is.

I don’t think anyone is saying no to Camaro if there’s variants of it in a sub brand that are SUV and electric. We’re just saying no to using the name if there isn’t at least an available option for the name to be on a 4 seat, 2 door coupe with a gasoline V8 and a 3 pedal manual.

If Porsche can keep their enthusiasts happy, so can GM. Queen Mary just needs to get with it.

Agree. But the issue here is the # of units produced, carbon credit offsets and the price of the vehicle.

Porsche doesn't sell that many 911's, and they are luxury cars so they can pay for their carbon credits and make money. Same with lambo, ferrari, etc....

GM, Ford and Dodge have an issue here. They paid a lot in carbon offset, and every V8 engine they build comes with a "fine" they have to pay.

We will still have Corvettes V8 and mustangs, until the market rejects them. But the price point won't be affordable anymore.
IMO that's why corvette went full exotic, production numbers are going to be really low in the future. That or get a similar performance SUV E-Vette or SUV CamEVro with V8 Speakers if you can't afford a 100k mustang or 200k vette.

I plan on ordering a SS Blazer EV when they are available, about 575 hp should be a fun toy.

Corvette brand is also going to get an SUV, so not surprising. Not exciting at all.
