(even with superficial 6th gen design cues) newBlazer is squarely inside of the puddy whipped family hauler's sphere. The EV/SS is a move toward Tesla's. gm flushed the connection to a K5 or ZR2.

FWIW…the “7th gen” is not clean sheet. Unless you’re into recycled paper. The platform is the same as S197 and S550 with some strengthening modifications that also add mass to an already heavy car. Ford has increased output to overcome the mass when it comes to acceleration, but you can’t hide the old chassis when it comes to handling.

You wanted to post this under the funny pictures thread. Admit it.

LOL. Revolvers are so 19th century. Not that I mind, I own more than a dozen, but still...

There's a message in there I'm sure.

One of the most difficult lessons I had to learn in my many years in portfolio planning was that my personal taste in vehicles meant zip when it came to defining vehicles that would be successful in the market place. I love smaller, low roof low center of gravity vehicles that go fast and handle superbly. I’ve often said if somebody gave me an Escalade or a Silverado HD I’d sell it and buy something I like. Thing is, the vast majority of the car buying public disagree with me. As much as car enthusiasts don’t like cross over utilities, they are the hottest selling things on the automotive planet. And it’s not just soccer moms and grandparents that are buying them. More people want CR-Vs than want Mustangs, Camaros and Challengers combined. Painful fact.

...meanwhile, the median driving aptitude gravitates towards ground zero faster than you can drop a rock. Coincidence? <cue suspenseful music>

Hopefully the market rejects all kinds of sports cars so we can buy them dirt cheap and abuse them.

Some time ago I had to explain to some guys that a manual transmission is not the paddles in the steering wheel. Imagine the price of a ZL1 manual 20 years from now....

After puking, I remembered Ford did it with the Mach SUV. A “mustang” suv. A “Camaro” suv….. No thanks.

Not according to the Ford website and the Ford exec they interviewed at the Woodward Dream Cruise.

They say its new from the ground up.

What are they gonna say? I mean really? They’re all new except the platform. The platform is a big deal. Watch any review by automotive journalists and you will not find one that uses the words “all new platform” unless the words “this is not” immediately precede it. It is a new PROGRAM but not a new PLATFORM. Handling has been the weak fuse in the Mustang lineup (except Shelby / Mach I). There are two ways to address handling…revise the platform or add bracing in appropriate areas. Ford did the latter because an all new platform is very expensive.

What’s the difference between a platform and a program? Alpha is a platform. A1SC is a program (Camaro 6). A1SL (ATS) and A2SL (CT4) are programs. For Mustang, S197, S550, and S650 are all programs. D2C is the platform that all of those programs were built on and dates back to the 2004 Lincoln LS and 2005 S197 Mustang. S550 received a modification to the D2C platform just like CT4 received a modification to the Alpha platform (A2 vs A1) but not significant enough to make it a new platform. Same for S650. Minor mods that add mass, but not a new platform as was originally planned.
