Supercharger lid spacers - who here runs one?
I'm curious because in the V world, these are good for 15 or so whp on a modified car. But everyone switches to ZL1 lids and claim the swap is good for about 20whp. Unfortunately we can't run both due to hood clearance. How many ZL1 owners have a lid spacer?

I wonder the same thing. We easily have enough room on a ZL1 to run the spacer and the stock zl1 lid. I wonder what this plus lid porting/polish would gain?

I was thinking about it anyway. Probably better ways to spend mod money though.

I ran the spacer for a while when I had the LSA blower. It was added with some other mods so not sure how much difference it would have made all by itself. I don't think they make as difference on the ZL1 as they do on the V. Maybe 5 horsepower....

I think all they do on a ZL1 is make maybe 5-7 HP and that would be cause of the extra space you have to stuff a little more air in the space the spacer creates.

I run it.. And it dropped boost about .7 lbs .. So it's better on your blower if anything else.. But mine gain a few hp too..

So which spacers have you all used? Anyone know if RDS is still making their spacers?

I then contacted Jeremy at Fasterproms and ordered the spacers that space the blower off the heads. I found they worked really well. What I found was, I would normally be 18F (10c) above the ambient temperature without the chiller or the spacer plates and then with the spacer plates it would be 9-12F (5-7c) above ambient and it would be hard to make it get any hotter (this is just cruising around) I then found with the interchiller turned on it had no effect on the IAT, that temp would still get to the same low number, but what I did find is that the entire blower would absorb the cold temp from the interchiller, the sides of the blower were once very hot are now luke warm to cold. So the whole blower is now running much colder and this obviously has a difference in terms of your peak IAT and cooling down much faster too. |

Any other issues with the spacer? I installed mine and I feel like there is something grinding at the rear of the lid. It really does not feel like the same car to be honest. I'm wondering if I should remove it altogether. Anyone have any issues?

who's spacer are you using? see if you have a boost leak at the rear of the spacer if that's where you heard grinding. |

We went with ICT Billet LSA supercharger Lid spacer. 1 inch. Not the easiest install but was able to get the torque in sequence and right value on all 16 bolts. I may get in there again today and fish around see if I missed something. I have the strut brace off for now as it is way too close to the lid. I will need to get creative with that. Lol I guess we wait to see what the tune can do. There are no cels at all. This is after long tubes, high flows cats, ID1050 injectors, 2step colder plugs, heat exchanger, ported snout with 2.55 upper and a 102 TB. Also a reinforced brick. I will install the KB BAP today. It is running very lean right now so we are trying to get a tune to get me from Austin to Dallas. The lid sound has been since the install. So the other adds were weeks after. Maybe it is just me. Lol
