To clarify the black on the piece in the picture is spray paint, I had used the former bucket to sit something on to paint. The picture at the top is the dirt that was at the bottom after washing and removing the guard. As far as dirt mixing in the water, swirling, it really doesn't seem to be an issue.

Still using it and it works for me.

(the blue car (fender) is on my 72 MGB)

Awesome idea! I made a similar one last year but didn't work out as good as this one looks like it does.
