I'm glad it was just a ditch you hit and not another car/person!! I truly can't understand DWT!!!!

Anyway...not that you'll ever know now....but that car should have run 8.80's EASY...if you're a good driver (wait...can I still say that?), if not a little faster. Very first time down the track in my LT1 ('93 Z28) I ran an 8.93 in the 1/8. I was in the low 8.80's by the time the weather turned cold...before any mods. LS1 should have been stronger.

no a ls1 wouldnt be stronger in the 1/8th because the lt1 has more torque and in the 1/8th thats what matters but in the quarter the ls1 because its power is on top end

You are wrong.

STOCK LS1 1/8th
8.6 @ 85mph

Also LT1s do not have more torque... I made 322rwhp/341rwtrq with the bottom of my air box cut out (only mod)... they simply make peak power at a lower RPM.

If you feel like digging for some stock / CAI LT1 dyno numbers for comparison you will see what I am talking about.

No LT1 hate...I owned an LT1 for 4 years prior to my LS1 car... it's just simple facts.

my stock (before the thermostat and hypertech) 2000 camaro z28 with 3.23's time from my car club's fast list:

8ty8 LS1...........1.938......8.389 @ 85.66........12.980 @ 107.66........LS1(S.I.) N/A

so yes, they are way stronger than you think. and maybe you need to procure a vehicle that you can keep under control.

That was a stock Manual and I'm far from a record holder...

My old LT1 Auto 3.23 car was a monster..so close to LS1s...
60 : 2.114
330 : 5.930
1/8 : 9.079
MPH : 78.34
1000: 11.800
1/4 : 14.115
MPH : 97.03

on top of 8ty8's information...here is a 100% stock LS1 Auto 3.23 car
60' 1.921
333' 5.442
1/8th 8.327
MPH 85.28
1000' 10.832
1/4 12.957
MPH 105.88
