This is subjective. You’re gonna get 20 different answers. Here’s answer number one. I like the Nitto NT555 G2. Awesome performance, very smooth and quiet.

I use them in 275/50-17 on 96 Caprice and 275/40-17 on 98 Z-28. Love them.
The 2014 Caprice? Not sure but maybe.

The PS4S is hands down the best Max Summer Performance tire out there. Great longevity and very sticky for track day fun. The bad part is, they're expensive.

are the pilot sports quiet? I don't track my car so I'm looking for a good balance of quiet/ride quality and grip.

Best max performance? Yep PS4S is hard to beat. I had I think the ps3 a while back. Great tire but I drag and don't auto cross.
Best budget performance tire is the general gmax rs hands down. I noticed no difference in traction between that and the PS around town but when I race I have nitto drags but auto cross is where the ps4s would shine but unless you auto cross
You won't even use the capability of the gmax or any other higher performance tire. Just my 2 cents

Michelin here, love them!! Have the 4S's on the front, and the MPSS on the rear, 335/35/20.. Both grip very well, ride nice and are pretty quiet.. But pricey.. lol.

Are the PS4S better than the PSS? I have PSS on mine now with about 600 rwhp, and and traction is lacking....

Wow, so I see a set of 4 PS 4S runs like 1800 bucks on Tirerack. Ouch! Are they that much better than others? The killer for me is the rears. I want 315/35-20.

I use the Michelin with good success. Fact is no tire will completly grab with 600 whp. They are very smooth and quiet. Best I've found yet.

I don't have experience with high HP on the MPSS. But the 4S handled 513whp amazingly. I could do a 40 in 1st gear and they wouldn't spin. I could also launch the car as hard as I could and it would hook. Now with nearly 300 more hp, 1st and 2nd don't hook, 3rd is ok-ish. As far as feeling, ride and everything is the same. The only difference is at the limit the MPSS had way better feed back. The 4S feel numb. The MPSS fade horribly with grip when they get close to that wear bar. But brand new I'd say grip is about the same.

The best max performance tire is probably the Goodyear Supercar G3s. But in cold temps and rain the Michelins will outshine them. So all around tire, the "have cake and eat it too", it's 4S.

If you want grip at 600rwhp, it's probably time to look at the M/T ET Street.

I actually love the PZero tires that were OEM on my 2011... the only problem was they wore out pretty quick and they were summer compound tires. I switched to Toyo Proxes AS so I could drive the car without risking the tires in the freezing cold. Not too bad at least during the winter months, but definitely no where near the handling capability of the PZero during the rest of the year. I am thinking of the Pirelli PZero AS +3 or the MPS AS4s for my next set which will be coming soon. Both are cheaper than a set of OEM PZeros. So price really isn't the issue... at least for me. The car only goes out on sunny days.
