Clay Bar

Would it be a good idea to do the clay bar to a new car. I am picking up my new 2SS RS tomorrow and the car was sitting under the elements for who knows how long...

It is a good idea and will not do any harm. Give it a good wash and clay away. There could be contaminants in the paint from shipping including rail dust and you don't want to wax over that.

Use the baggie test. First wash your car using the 2-bucket wash method. Dry your car using detail spray and high-quality microfiber waffle weave towels. Then, take a plastic baggie. Put your hand in it and rub your hand gently over the paint. If your paint feels rough, you need to clay your car. If it is smooth, then you're good to polish and wax.

You should be sure to watch the Junkman's videos on car detailing. You'll learn a ton! Good luck.

Good for you. Better to me safe than sorry and most of our cars "rode on a train" for at least part of the delivery process - rail dust is bad..

My 3rd Black Camaro and I found Beyond Clay from Surf City Garage.
I will NEVER Clay Bar again! This is awesome stuff!
Also, NAPA and Pep Boys stock it.

Every new car should be clayed and most (95%) need to be polished to remove the micro swirling.

Because my Brand new IOM Camaro looks absolutely awesome and shines like glass, so why would I clay bar it.

Did you check it?

If you tested the paint and it didn't need to be claybarred you would be one of the VERY VERY few who don't need a claybar upon delivery of their vehicle.

I'm one of the lucky ones I guess, my paint is perfect and smooth with no need for anything but a simple wash every once in a while.
