Washing Microfiber Towels

I have a slew of microfiber towels I purchased when I first started using Zaino products, etc. Now all of the towels are dirty and I was wondering if anybody knew any specifics on how to properly wash microfiber towels. It is said that if they are washed, they are softer than when first purchased. What temperature of water should I use? What kind of wash cycle? Permanent Press? How much and what kind of detergent should I use? Should I use a regular tumble dryer to dry the towels or have them air dry? Any information would be extremely helpful! Thank you all kindly in advance!

I read that when washing them you should use a second rinse cycle. Also, do not use fabric softener in the wash and do not use dryer sheets when drying.

I use permanent press with dawn/detergent mix hot water. I let them soak until the water turns warm (~1hour) then let them go throught the cycle. I turn the dial back to the rinse and let it go from there. Then dry on low w/o a fabric softener. They come out pretty clean unless i ues them to clean the wheels.

While it's true that Microfiber is remarkably strong and can be machine washed using any laundry detergent, commercial linen and laundry services were experiencing a problem. Repeated washings with the strong detergents used to clean shop towels was causing the fibers to stiffen, reducing the towels effectiveness and cleaning ability.
Micro-Restore removes all manner of greasy, oily stains while keeping the individual Microfibers soft and flexible. Cloths, towels, mitts and applicators emerge clean, soft and fluffy, wash after wash.

Micro-Restore is a 100% biodegradable detergent with special water softeners to prevent fiber stiffening. The product contains no bleach or fabric softeners yet will break down heavy grease, motor oils, wax residues and stubborn stains restoring a like-new softness through several hundred washings!

One last note. Micro-Restore will also clean and revitalize cotton towels, natural and synthetic chamois. (Always wash Microfiber products by themselves.)

With all due respect to Costco (because I live there nearly everyday!!) I would only use their microfiber towels for clean up in certain areas e.g. door jams, under the hood, trunk jams/shutes, rocker panels, inner fender wells. I learned this from experience. The edges are not sealed and if you accidently rub it the wrong way on your freshly polished or waxed paint, the edges are definitely rough enough to scratch the finish.

Now, I only use a towel that has a satin edge or similar protective liner like silk. For the record, I wash approx 200 mf towels a week and have done so at that rate for nearly 4 yrs now and the only way I have truly cleaned my mf towels was by throwing in 3 ounces of Poorboy's APC. It is biodegradable so safe for washers, etc. It is the only product I trust to break down all the chemicals in the towels, thus removing any discoloration from the polishes, etc. Trust me, if you don't remove it all, you are better off throwing them away. I have learned my lesson, countless times. In addition to the Poorboy's APC, I throw in a couple ounces of MicroRestore. This one, two punch is all you need to completely restore your MF's to new condition. Always use warm water to wash, cold to rinse, a second rinse cycle, and dry on low air dry with no FS. It will prolong the life and safe you a lot of headaches and cash.
