REPLACEMENT HID BULBS FROM AMAZON SEEM WEAK
I purchased these bulbs as replacements for my 2010 RS which never had the originals replaced.
DMEX D1S Xenon HID Headlight Bulbs 6000K Cool White 35W 66144 66140 85140 85415 Replacement - Pack of 2 https://a.co/d/bNaeo1i I just wanted the closest to stock to be honest. I thought these would do. The passenger side burnt out in 2 months, so I tried again, and while they are still going, it seems not very bright. I have to really focus on what I'm looking at while driving. Can anyone recommend something better, and do I need to adjust these in any way? I'm literally just plugging these in, really just feeling around because its kinda hard to get in there. Last edited by Hetfield03; 03-10-2023 at 11:50 AM. |

One of the better known name brands on Rockauto.com.
Changing the bulbs shouldn't require adjustment. |

Don't know much about bulbs but I believe these are the factory ones, or equivalent: https://www.amazon.ca/PHILIPS-4300K-...074MNGWJQ?th=1 (D3S, 4300K, 35W, part number 42403C1).
Still going after a couple of years; look the same as the factory ones.

The best I can tell D1 and D3 bulbs have different connectors. Based upon Rockauto listings, Camaro was switched from D1S to D3S in 2014.

I tried looking this up and it wanted me to switch to the Canadian website. When I looked it up manually, it said that it didn't fit my car.

Stock hid is 4300 Kelvin color temperature. The higher the Kelvin, the "less light" reflected from surfaces.

I know on my 2010, the inside of the projector has the reflective coating flaking off so no matter what bulbs I use, they will never be like when the car was new. Ive heard this also from a few other 2010-2011 owners.

6000k doesn't have anything to do with "how much" light it puts off.

That's cause the K rating has nothing to do with the amount of light emitted but the color. 6000k has a blue tint to it which actually reduces the amount of visible and reflective light a bulb gives out. For head lights, the ideal K rating is between 4000-5000k which is the same K as daylight with 4200-4500k being the most common.
