Yes it was a Fram from Walmart. I bought it when I bought the oil.

It almost looks like it was stuck in the filter cap and started to come apart when pulled out for replacement. I know when I changed mine I had to pull hard enough that the rubber gromet on the end in the cap came off and stayed in the cap. I had to fish it out with a small screwdriver and that was an AC/Dalco filter.

I use the K&N oil filter with Royal Purple 5W30 was done well for me

It also would have been interesting to see a use oil analysis on the oil with the filter looking like that. I bet the insolubles was way up.

My "factory-installed" AC Delco did the same thing when I changed it out.
Hope my "BigRed" installed ACD doesn't do the same. At least we know what to watch out for next time. And empty that catch can!

I just use the OEM filters mtself. In my book as long as it can go 7500K between OCI's.
