Car Seats in the back seat—Doable!
When I was searching for the topic, very few topics came up, and very few with definitive information showed up.
Well my Camaro is my DD, and I have my son in the car 3x a week for daycare, and wanted to update a thread on using car seats with the Camaro. When my son was an infant (3 months - 12 months), and was using a carrier, I put the base of the carrier in the passenger side rear seat, and used to move the passenger seat all the way up on daycare days. This prevented me from having a passenger at the same time, but that never really bothered me. Now that my son is over 12 months old, and required a rear-facing car seat, I didn't want something that would ALWAYS be in the car and making my passenger seat unusable. Now luckily I am not a very tall guy (only 5'8), but I was able to purchase and install a Britax Boulevard car seat, and install it rear-facing in the seat behind me. It's a little bit of a tight squeeze, but I think I can get a year of use out of it, before I make the seat forward facing and then it will be a breeze to use. Attached is a shot of the backseat with the base installed on the passenger side and the rear-facing on the driver's side, and a shot showing the very minimal gap still between my seat and the car seat,

Buddy had twin daughters around 6 years old that both sat in a car seat (maybe a booster seat, don't ask me) with no issues.

It’s no longer forward facing at 2 years old. It’s now by weight limit for rear facing of the seat. (I.e mine is 40 lbs) So figure 3-4 years old... https://www.cbsnews.com/amp/news/rea...ents-children/

Our "baby" is our 6 yr. old Miniature Schnauzer....and we haven't had a need to transport her in my '11 RS....we either use my '16 Silverado, or wife's '15 Equinox.

You can mount the car seat in the middle. It is safer, and will give you more room. I can snap a picture of my configuration if you need it.

Just seeing this thread!
My son is rarely in the Camaro since it's not a DD, but I wanted to be able to use the Camaro for fun, and when it's my only vehicle if my wife is out. Bronxxbombers convinced me to swap out my rear seat for a cloth bench, and I'm glad I did. Super easy. I bought the Combi Coccoro, which has a very small profile and doesn't sacrifice safety. Installed it behind the passenger, and I get access to it through the driver's side. The downside is that bigger kids will grow out of it fairly quickly. My son is like 11th percentile height lol so we'll be good for a long while. edit: we were also going on vacation shortly after I bought it-- and I wanted a seat that wasn't stupid heavy to carry through the airport. It weighs less than half our Britax IIRC

It'll be nice when I can turn the seat around, but it does work for now. AAP says it's fine if legs are bent in rear-facing, but it will be nice when he has more leg room for sure

You use the clips instead of routing a seatbelt through the carseat. You can use the clips to clip onto the steel bars inside the backrests, near the bottom. You should be able to see 1" slits in your backseat cushions. The metal retaining bars are inside. Using them, you can still use the passenger and driver side rear seatbelts. This means you can fit 5 people in the car.

I have a 10mo old rear facing (pass side with front seat all the way up) and my 4 year in a booster behind me. They both love the sound of the car and even though its straight piped from headers and a built motor with a big cam they both have no problem falling asleep going for a ride. They absolutely love it and both get excited when its time to ride with dad! Huge smiles! When my 4 year old was an infant I had her in my 04 gto which was louder with a BTR stage 4 cam, she would make the lope sound when we were at idle. best feeling ever! My 4 year old loves being picked up/dropped off in the Camaro at school and tells all her friends that her dads car hauls butt =,)

Definitely doable, but not if you have any kind of height. The person in front of the rear facing car seat has zero room. I'm still waiting to see what a forward facing seat is like for when my son will be able to sit forward behind me hopefully. At 7' tall there's not a whole lot of anyone who can ride behind me.
