For Sale: 1997 Chevrolet Camaro SS SLP - Red hardtop, 24K miles, 6spd, Exc Cond

Asking $11,900 or best offer for my bright red 1997 Camaro SS SLP coupe. This is one of 93 red, solid/fixed roof hardtop (not t-top) Camaros with a 6-speed manual transmission that was built in 1997. While most of those 93 cars had black roofs and mirrors, this car has the optional monochromatic color scheme on the roof and mirrors (RPO code D82).

The car has a charcoal grey leather interior with 30th anniversary Camaro logos embossed on seats. It is 100 percent stock with 24,000 miles on the original 305 horsepower LT1 engine, Borg Warner T56 6-speed manual transmission and Street Legal Performance (SLP)-upgraded optional Torsion rear-end with 3.42 gears. It has $7,243 in performance upgrades from SLP to turn the car from a base Z28 into a Super Sport. I have all the SLP documentation (options and birth certificate) on the car as well as the original window sticker, owner's manual, build sheet, RPO code break-down and special SLP supplemental owner's manual. It has a clean Car Fax report.

This car runs/sounds great and is exceptionally clean inside, outside and underneath. It has never been driven hard or in bad weather, and has always been garaged. It has not ever had any paint work whatsoever. The original painted aluminum 17" by 9.5" ZR1 wheels with machined lip are pristine with no curb rubs or dings.

The car was built by General Motors in July 1996 and converted by SLP in August 1996. This car is SLP build number 342AP9 with serial number 0082. It has $7,243 in SLP upgrades including 3" Borla stainless steel performance exhaust system (one of 871 cars), engine oil cooler (one of 642 cars), Hurst shifter (one of 577 cars), Level II Bilstein sport suspension package (modified front sway bar -- larger than stock, modified front sway bar bushings, panhard bar, jounce bumper spacer, rear lower control arms -- one of 312 cars), Torsion torque-sensing limited slip differential with AAM aluminum rear axle cover (one of 545 cars), Camaro SS floor mats (one of 821 cars). All those upgrades come on top of the base SLP modifications, which included an SLP fiberglass hood with functional air scoop, modified air box, modified air filter (larger than stock), modified air inlet duct, larger than stock mass airflow sensor, rear deck spoiler (different than stock Camaro Z28 spoiler), synthetic engine oil and SS badges inside and out.

It also has power steering; four wheel power disc brakes; power windows; power door locks; power mirrors; air conditioning; intermittent wipers; cruise control; optional Monsoon premium sound system with AM/FM stereo, CD player, eight speakers and auxiliary amplifier; fog lights; rear window defroster. The car has a white shifter ball now, but I still have the stock leather Hurst shifter knob with the "H" embossed in the top that the new buyer would get.

Asking $11,900/best offer. MAKE ME AN OFFER!! NADA currently values this car at "high retail" for $13,800, which doesn't add for low miles or highly optioned cars like this one with all documentation. 1997 SLP cars have the highest book value because of the amount of SLP content available and because it was the Camaro's 30th anniversary model year. Here's a link to the NADA page: http://www.nadaguides.com/Cars/1997/Chevrolet/Camaro-Z28-Super-Sport/2-Door-Coupe/Values.

Please contact me directly for more information. 860-543-2846. No text messages please. The car is located in Suffield, Conn.
