Scratches on stripes
Starting to get some swirl marks on my gloss rally stripes. Question is can I get rid of them or do I just need to deal with the?

You cannot polish stripes... stuck with it or remove them.

I was able to make the following scratches disappear by applying Mequires M40 vinyl conditioner to the stripes and leaving the car out in the hot sun.
If you have matte stripes, you can also apply a vinyl treatment like Adams VRT. It should mask the swirls. |

If you are not happy with them take them off like I did. Replace them with new ones if you want. There may be some slight lines left over, clean your car and then you may have to use some swirl or fine polish to remove any residual lines. Check this thread out.

My car isn't driven daily or in he rain. I honestly never gave it a chance to wear off. Now that my scratches are gone, I use Chemical Guys matte detailer. Leaves a nice natural finish, doesn't look coated. I apply it after every wash. |

Damaged vinyl is like damaged paint. If the vinyl is missing (deep enough to feel with your finger nail) the only fix is new vinyl. You can use products like the Mequire's or Adams VRT, but it only hides the damage temporarily.
If its something as glaring as the "old penis in the vinyl," the a replacement stripe is recommended for a perminate fix

The M40 and heat removed mine. After I used it, I cleaned my stripes with an all purpose cleaner to remove the M40. The damage is gone and has been for a year. Have your tried it to claim that it doesn't work? I did and it worked. |

Like I said, if you can feel the scratch with your fingernail, the damage is still there. If the damage is a light scuff, there is a chance these products will work. You can't tell me the pic in david79z28 post is "fixed" if you can still see the tallywacker.
Does it diminish the damage? Sure, but fix it? No way.
