just got back from sebring international. oh my god guys. what a track.
the new cage/seat/harness setup is good now and im getting more used to driving it with no nannies. the new brake ducts worked perfect and kept the brake rotors from warping. the brakes seemed better and more consistent.
at the first of the video i show leaving the pits and some slow traffic stuff just to show the track. the end is me trying to run down a new c7. we went at it for several laps. his brakes got hot and he went in a lap before the checkered.

my wife is riding shotgun.

I left time on the table in lots of places. I could have pushed the braking zone after the long back straight and didn't need to brake as much before the uphill esses and after turn 10. I need to trust my equipment but I always think I need to drive this car home...lol! Oh, definitely kick it up to PTM 4 or 5...the intervention is still there but just less. Safety is key but the PTM 5 lets the car dance a little at the limit. My car hates the off camber turn 10 before the downhill section leading to "oak tree" and even PTM 5 there kicks in intervention.

Watkins Glen 5-4-14 '13 1LE

I went to Watkins Glen on 5/3 and 5/4 with the Genesee Valley Chapter of the BMW Car Club of America for their Ultimate Driving School and ran in the Upper Intermediate / Advanced Group. My instructor turned me loose to run my last two track sessions solo. The video is the end of my last session on Sunday. What you can't see in the video is the Boss 302 Mustang that was behind me that I was playing catch me if you can with. He got to my rear bumper a couple of times but never earned the pass. I learned that the brakes on the Camaro SS are significantly better than the Boss 302. I could drive a lot deeper into the corners.

Sweet! You nailed several apexes! I need to hit some more road courses vs. autoX.

This post reminds me I should explain the new cone system that this BMW Club is using in the corners. I don't know if BMW CCA is doing this nationwide or only some clubs are doing this. In the video you'll see:

Most trackout (exit) cones have been eliminated.
They are still using a turn in cone, although I found they have some in way to deep to properly maintain the longest radius through the corner.
They have gone to an "Apex Zone". There are two cones on the inside of the turn. One at the beginning of the apex zone and one at the end. They are now teaching that you can apex anywhere between the two cones.
This is different than pretty much everyone has written about or is teaching at other schools.

Nice, easy to get over zealous after passing people huh.... lol those are moments I think "just stay on the track" "brake hard, dive in, stay on the track"... lol

That track seemed really rough.

The track was actually super smooth. The patchwork places are not as they look.

And you're so right about the passing. Seems when someone is on your rear you always try and push it too much. It was a real learning experience for me and we had instructors from 9 til 1 and then ran with a bunch of Vipers in the afternoon.
