When I was asking myself the same question as the OP, I was debating upgrading or going with new OEM. The OEM brembo's are pretty good for street and occasional track days. In the end I got new OEM rotors, Hawk blue pads (not the ceramics) and went with a higher temp brake fluid. They work great.

I had the Hawk 5.0 street pads worse brake pad ever. Damn things screeched like a bus.

The braking grip is nice, the sound is UNBEARABLE, ceramic brakes make absurd amounts of noise. They advertised my pads as low brake dust, WRONG LOL. Going to be switching back to oem pad's might be a bit more dusty from the wear but it wont sound like nails against a chalk board every stop light. Nothing more bad ass then a turbo SS coming to a squeaking loud stop, like i ran over a damn piggy.

All I ever worry about is the brake dust, I rarely abuse the brakes, but when I do I'm slowing from a 130+ little fun run I've got the R1 concepts with Hawk Yellow pads and its a nightmare trying to keep the barrel of the Z/28 Reps I've got clean.

Z/28 reps are a nightmare to keep clean anyways especially the gloss black ones. No brake pad will keep those clean for long. I'm running ZL1 pads not crazy brake dust for me.

Are you running R1 eLine or Geomet carbon? I don't see a "premium" on the website.

OEM Rotors and Pads are the best street / light track combination available for the 5th Gen and can be found at HUGE discounts online.

Pete,

Are there slotted and drilled rotors you would recommend with the stock Brembo calipers?

Chevrolet dealership quoted me $900.00 for 4 and 4, rotors and pads, I have the Brembo Braking system. I though it was a fair price for such a bad to the bone beast that he is lol

Slotted and drilled are more for looks than function. Do you road couyrse your Camaro?

I just purchased R1 Geomet rotors and now Im trying to decide on which pads to go with. I have Hawks pad now and were somewhat pleased with them. I don’t track my car so I prefer low dust ceramics. My Hawks pads started make noise after a year of use (I thinking its because I needed new rotors.) As I was reading this post, I read that some member are getting some noise from their hawks pads. My choices are Hawks, Powerstop, R1. I Would like to hear a few more members thoughts and experiences with their pads.

Brembo Performance

Hi all,

I have a question since my 2011 Beast has hit 40,500 miles, my braking system is SS GM OEM Brembos, they are dark gray with the Chevrolet in white and Brembo in red, I was looking at the solid red ones, I have read that some like the slotted rotors and some do not, I race him so without killing my bank account lol can you tell me what the best brakes is for him? please lol

yes it is a HE lol has a V8 6.2L
