That's why I'm gonna go for 100cpi metal core converters. I'm not willing to wait for months to get news or insights - They are out there, nothing new and fancy about it - worth a try imho!

These are my Catts after approx 4-5mo, took me a while to realize problem, plus I'm quite hard on the car when i use it, I have gutted them now, feels like I have lost some power too. Hopefully no internal probs there, maybe my tune need correcting now to compensate.

Your tune needed to be corrected from the get-go. I have had my supercharger on now for over 3000 miles. I also make a WOT pull at least once or twice per day. I checked my cats once at 500 miles after V3 install and once at 2500 miles after V3 install. My Kooks hi-flo cats are still in perfect condition.

It does seem like cats have a hard time living behind 600+ rwhp but take this as a warning to double check your tune! We had a guy with a GTO that really beat the crap out of the car. It had a fuel pump fail but he still beat it up. When he took me on a test drive to see what was wrong the fuel pressure was dropping some 30 psi and the car was audibly spark knocking. Well it also hurt both cats in the process. It was a mid 500 rwhp car.

I got some news from the owner today on where we are at. like ive already explained before, we have contractual obligations to get a bunch of parts out for our biggest customer so our coater is very busy getting all of their stuff done first...once again, nothing we can do there. I also got some very good information on why cats start failing at a certain amount of horsepower.
basically, every cat out right now has a coating that is meant for lower hp vehicles. the coating has to be designed to work cooperatively with the core to reach maximum efficiency and longevity. all the coatings being used now would work perfectly for a ford Taurus or something of that nature, but believe it or not the coating is not made for modified vehicles. I hate to tell the guys that go out and spend hundreds of dollars for cats, but to be completely honest with you, youre wasting your money on those expensive cats. we will actually be the first company ever to have a coating that is specifically designed for forced induction or high hp vehicles. you can try to go out and buy however many 100 cpi cats you want, but in the end, theye just going to fail due to the coating if youre running boost or have high horsepower. |

It will be within the next couple of months. I know its pretty much been a year since I very first joined and started talking about this, but a lot has happened to us as a company, so im sorry for the long wait. we actually have a couple of test cats with our prototype coating that we sent to a header manufacturer for testing and are also going to put a set on our owners Maserati to start the long term driving tests. once we find that they are performing to an acceptable level, they will be sent out to those who signed up for testing.

Thanks man. A couple months isn't bad, and I'm sure we all want and need these on the current market soon. We just need CATS that won't grenade, and can actually withstand high power, especially with forced induction. Thanks again for keeping is updated.

Yes, new learning curve for me with these cats, they also stuff my rear o2 sensors as well, although that prob doesn't matter as I surmise they are turned off. The material inside pushed back on O2's & bent the crap out of them!

Any updates on the high flow aftermarket cats for blown cars??? Kinda surprised that no one has posted anything about this in a month since it seems like a big deal for a lot of people here.
I know it is for me as I'm having maggie installed next week and have Dynatech headers and HFcats and I want/need to run cats! Any vendors or manufactures care to chime in with any updates or ideas about if a solution is close for high flow cats for supercharged cars from aftermarket cats makers? Is the only solution now to get the cats from the ZL1 from GM? Or removing cats all together? Only these two choices...that's it? Surprised with all the SC'ed cars on this forum that no other options have been created for this somewhat serious issue. Anybody with me here? |

They will have to be cut and welded in to your current system as they are universal. I have them in stock they just came in Yesterday. Ted.

I also seen somewhere that the Kooks green cats are suppose to hold up 900HP.
But I don't have any concrete info on that yet. |
