what do you think of this audio set up

so I plan to go with JL audio as they are the best. Im going with the 1 w6 12 inch stealth box in the corner of the trunk. With a jl slash amp. And c5 speakers with another slash amp. any comments or suggestions on different speakers and amps. anyone with a similar set up how does it sound?

I certainly wouldn’t say JL is the best, not by a long shot. They are decent. Depending on your budget, I hear the C7’s are world class. I would also go with the W7 sub over the W6, but that is budget dependent also. Are you going to be running active or passive? Have you installed sound deadener yet? If so, which product did you go with? Are you keeping the stock HU, or which HU and kit have you decided on?

I was going with the w6 because they make a stealthbox in the corner of the trunk and i still need to fit golf clubs in the trunk. and i have never heard active or passive? what is that? and i am going to be using the stock mylink

JL is certainly not the best, there are many more than them that are great and better. Agreed on the w7. great SQ sub with plenty of output.

Active is using a DSP (Digital Sound Processor). Passive is using physical crossovers that normally are included with component sets. The crossover keeps bass notes from blowing your tweeters, along with getting the most out of your mids and tweets. A DSP will provide time alignment, which will make the sound from each speaker hit your ears simultaneously, which will make your system come alive, and sound like the band is playing from your dashboard, even your sub will sound like it’s in front of you, no matter where you install it. There are a myriad of other things a DSP can do as well. There are some great threads on diymobileaudio.com, if you really want to research and learn in depth about car audio. You can also join Strictly Sound Quality on Facebook, and gain a lot of knowledge by reading those conversations. Also, the Sound Quality Classifieds page has some excellent equipment for great prices if you know what you are looking for!

Speakers - Audiofrog, Micro Precision, Morel, Scanspeak, SEAS, Eton, SB Acoustic, Illusion Carbon, Stereo Integrity, Audible Physics, etc.

Amps - Brax, Mosconi, Tru Technology, Zapco AP and LX series, Revelation Audio, etc.

DSP - Helix, Mosconi, Arc

Don’t get me wrong, JL has some awesome stuff, but saying they’re the best is way off the mark. They have an excellent price-to-performance ratio, and they seem to have great customer service. Audiofrog customer service is 2nd to none, IMO, as you can often times reach the President of the company/designer of the products with any questions. Andy has also worked for and designed many JBL/Harmon Kardon equipment. Rishi and Tam with Audible Physics, and Nick at Stereo Integrity are the same way.

They make pretty good subs and amps, IMO

Back in the day--my young stereo days, I used JL subs/amps, MB Quart speakers, pioneer receivers..

Yes they do, among the top quality in bang-for-buck. The W7 subs can compete with anything being made today.
