hell yeah...

I'll probably be deaf in a week...but what the hell, right.

I'm a major music nut. I love my music and I love it loud. One thing I absolutely HATE is going 70 down the highway, I turn up the radio, and all I get is distortion. Crap pisses me off. That won't last long, though.

Spent several hours today polishing up the SS. Arms are killing me... Nice to finally get a chance to clean her up....even if I get yelled at when I do it. HA!

Cant wait to hear this mod... I've been thinking seriously about a stereo mod, but have priorities ahead of it... We'll see when the sound stuff happens... may be a while...

You won't regret upgrading your speakers Doug. I didn't do anything extreme with mine, but I did go with JL Audio for the doors and pillar tweeters as well as 2 8" JL Audio W3s powered by a 500W JL Audio amp. Much better than stock, but not overwhelming either. I just need to have some custom boxes made rather than the plain boxes I currently have.

Well....I can't afford what I truly want just yet (forced induction of some sort). And I know I should be saving. But, this is just another thing on the "list" that I've wanted forever. One more thing...I'll use this every single day (unless I have a headache).

You know, I can't (off the top of my head) think of anyone here back in the SA club that has upgraded their stereo. Everything is either cosmetic or go fast goodies. So, I really can't compare to anything. I just hope and pray the installer I talked to is picking out some really good components and what not to make this work.

I upgraded mine 3 months after I had it. I'm a big music nut too and the stock speakers just weren't cutting it. I also had them dynamat my doors and I'm happy I did. With my door closed and windows up you can barely hear my music from a few feet away when I have it cranked.

I've wanted a new deck, but I can't decide what I want. I also left the rear 6x9s in because they sounded decent compared to the fronts.

I was thinking of dynamat....but wasn't sure. If it was to keep out noise, it's already pretty good being a quiet ride. Then again, the mufflers do make it louder. Hrm... It would be nice to keep the noise IN the car. It's just that the darn dynamat is expensive for a simple 4sq ft of mat. $25 for 4 sq ft? ... ouch. How much did you need/use?

To be honest I couldn't tell you exactly how much they used, but I know they used Dynamat's door kit. Here is a link to some options. IMO it is well worth it.

ouch. I found some 4 ft sq sheets for 25 bucks each. I'll probably go for that.

But now...the real problem.

Something broke today. I have no idea what. But, it's something that rotates...and it feels HORRIBLE.

I began to jack it up (like I've done a million times before on all my cars) and I hear a BAM!!! I was literally standing there and said, "WTF??" I continued to jack it up, took off the wheel, took out the liner, and was going to get started on installing the ADM CAI race scoop. Saw the washer bottle and if I got this right, realized the windshield washer bottle has to come out. Um....nah. Don't think i want to do that. I put the liner back in, tire back on, dropped it, and parked it back in the garage. No problem.

Then, time to go to work. I jump in the car and head off. I get around the corner and accelerate. I get past 10mph and the car begins to shudder like f'ing crazy...straight from the center console. I took it out of gear and stopped immediately. I checked....shifter was solid...just like it should be and would go in all gears, no problem.

I begin to take off slowly in 1st. I feel a vroom vroom vroom like revolutions of the tire turning, drive shaft, something.... As I go faster, they speed up. I hit 8mph and SHUDDER. WTF??? Slow down...vroom vroom vroom...8mph? SHUDDER.

Well SON OF A....

No idea what it could be.

Flatbed picks it up. Dana watched everything and said the guy was SUPER careful with it. Made me feel pretty good.

Problem?

Shop won't be able to get to it for a few days. They are BOOKED....and even told me I could could go check the other dealers, but was told they were just as booked. Wouldn't want to go that route, though. Ancira Chevy is the only place I really want to go. They do GREAT freaking work and Bob Dishong is the best service guy in the world. Known him for....12 years now?? Oh well. It's going to sit there for a few days.

I'm very curious to know what the hell is going on. Feels like something is rubbing that drive shaft...has to be somethign that turns as the car moves faster...Ugh...

Were you able to get under it at all... i know you were headed to work and all, but... If I had to look at something first, it would be the drive shaft bolts.... If you broke an axle and the dealership gives you any hassle about warranty stuff, let me know asap... I've got my factory axles in the shop and will bring them to you...and help you install them...

Damn, man...thank you!

I don't think there should be any type of warranty issues. I've intentionally been careful with the powertrain so there should be no warranty issues what so ever. If so, I'll let you know...as I raise HELL.

Should be okay. lol..

I brought it back to the garage, put it up, checked the shifter since that's where I felt the most shudder. It was all perfectly intact. Then again, it shifted perfectly while at a stop. I'm totally lost as to what it could be. But, its something that rotates...and could be an axle. Strange, though. I was taking off like I've done for the past 2 years in this car. Leaving my driveway in my neighborhood. No chance in hell I'd get on it or anything. Still....lol....not like I haven't in the past elsehwere. But, I just have this feeling it had to do something with that bang I heard as it raised on the jack.

I don't know..

I'll quickly take you up on the offer if there is an issue.

THANK YOU!!!
