I think a lot of dealers will do the mark up and let them sit for a while, but if no buys them with mark up, eventually they will drop the mark up. The Pace Cars are a prime example, dealers here wanted a mark up, now some are below invoice trying to sell them.

Staying positive.. I want everyone to have a zl1 that wants one..I have said that since the beginning.. If I can help others make theyre dream come true in anyway.. I will.. My only advice per my OP is this.. simply this... take what you have learned in the past 6th months on C5 about the Zl1 and apply it as it applies here for sure. All am saying to everyone is don't be fooled by what a dealer may tell you ( me included here of course) "listen" to what they are telling you. Most of the enthusiasts that have been hanging on for the last 6 months have more information than the dealer(s) mentions in my above OP? See? Use what you have learned... I will say this.. and I mean it with most sincerity.... do not pay 10k markup! Or even 5K! If that is the only way to get a ZL1..... and you don't have 5K to burn...... WAIT! IF you do have 5k or 10k to burn, then I guess its ok... go ahead and burn $10k or $5k.. but I choose not to do so, all im gonna say about it. I wish each and everyone of you the best of luck on this roller coaster.. I am not getting off the coaster until the Zl1 is up in the driveway...

Dealers are independently owned. They follow their own marching orders, not GM's. The ZL1 will be in tight supply in '12 and '13. It's going to be a big win for some and a disappointment for many others. I hope Chevy introduces the Z-28 to fill the void for those consumers who are hot on the performance trail that are unable to purchase a ZL1. That would be a win win situation.

And if the dumb azzes don't pay it, then they can't charge it. But they do. And that's why they can fleece the dumb azzes.

It is not just Chevy dealerships that do markups, a local Ford conglomerate is marking up the red Boss 302 in the showroom $5,000 and their 3 GT500's $2,500 each. High demand, high markup.
