I wouldn't say to much if I was a GEN5 guy about the 8 speed auto.. The GEN5 6 speed auto couldn't find the next gear if it had a road map.. That was the biggest issue I had with my GEN5

I do know that a tune does help a lot with the 6 speed autos.
Of course, this will all become a moot point in '19 when the A10 comes out in the regular SS's. I haven't read too many issues with those. Of course, to get it you have cope with the questionable predator type front end treatment and the bowtie on the bumper. lol!

I looked at both a few months ago, and drove a 6th SS before deciding on the 5th ZL1. The 6th SS was nice, but it didn’t blow me away. For many reasons I found the 5th to be better.

As time goes on, we will see how well the 5th gen holds up as a post modern retro design while the 6th gen merely becomes old and outdated.
.
I agree. 6th Gen is no longer retro, and looks soft; which isn’t good for sales

Soft stock trans tune.....whole new ball game once in capable tuning hands. And durability has never been an issue...like the rest of the the car that trans is stout.

13' ZL1 or 16' SS.. They are about the same price. Why would the 16' even be any option for anyone?

Similar performance. Newer. No supercharger to deal with.

Blower is a major advantage

No kidding... shameless trolling.

For some, yes. For others, no. I would personally go with the '13 ZL1 but it would be in spite of the blower, not because of it.

Well the 8 speed has been around for a while now.. Truck, and Cars. My Colorado Crew cab has the V6 with the 8 speed.. no issues. I hope the 10 speed continues to be rock solid.. HOWEVER.. GM did throw a bit of a curve on the SS. It is not getting the 10 speed out of the ZL1, it a lighter version.. So keep you fingers crossed it does the job.

PS: Yea not sure about the mid-year upgrade. I will hold judgment until I see one in person.
I agree I wish the bowtie was in the grill

Ok. I’m relatively new to the post 4th gen Camaro scene so I’m just getting up to speed on this squabble.

Seriously - people actually think the 6th Gen is ugly? I can see having a preference of one over the other for various reasons but to say the 6th gen is an ugly car is really a bit hard to understand.

Hello my Canadian Buddy

Well.. Lets just say the old GEN5 has a pretty good track record but by NO means is it perfect, remember I owned one. While it was a very good car it had two recalls in the first year I owned it. And when I went into the dealer to check on it they had two SS getting Motor work done.

I like them both (GEN5 and GEN6).. And both have their drawbacks and pluses

The ZL1 has 40% more power than the SS. Why would the SS need the same trans? The SS is a lite version

Recalls are generally supplier related. I still have a 5th gen....it gets beat on...raced and abused and hasnt missed a beat. Now I think it rides like a park bench but Im used to it now...

I have to agree. I dont get it either, but hey, some people actually like the 2019 SS refresh too which I cant understand either. Seat for every hiney I guess.

What I find funny is that GM fixed what everyone complainted about with the gen5 in the gen6 car and people still complain. Go figure.

For myself I find the 10-13 Camaro to have a beautiful retro design. Do not ole the changes made in 14. Hate the plastic insert in the hood, narrowed grill and taillights.
I think the 6th gen is a good looking car. More of a modern Camaro design, expanding beyond the retro design.
To each his own, but would never want to put down another Camaro owner
