My JBA shorty install...

So had MRT install my JBA shorties today! Install was straight forward. Josh, who did the install, said it was one of the easier header installs he had done.

So here is few pictures from the install...

1) With the head shield removed you can easily see the drivers side manifold.

2) The passenger side has a bit more things in the way.

3) Driver's side stock manifold

4) Passenger side manifold vs JBA header

5) Another view of the stock manifold

6) Outlet - stock manifold vs JBA header

7 & 8 ) Closer look at the outlets

9) Interesting stock gasket which is reused

10) Drivers side header in place

11) Passenger side installed

The stock down pipe does need to be cut and a new flange welded in place.

12) Stock down pipe

13) Josh cutting up my pipe! LOL

14) New flange welded in place.

15) Finally the drivers side header after a few good heat cycles

First impressions: The car did seem to get slighty louder on start up and revs. The exhaust tone seems a bit deeper and more full. The sound seemed to change (for the better) on the 90 minute drive home. Was surprised it seem to change so quickly. I am extremely happy with the improvement to my exhaust sound!

Performance... well, the roads were snow covered and icy... so really can't comment yet on the performance benefit. I plan on dyno'ing the car soon.

I did do a short video clip that I need to edit... but since the car's sound seemed to change so much on the way home I really need to get a new video!

So as it stands I give this mod a

Thanks all!

@bluedevil02... yeah, with all the right tools and a hoist it does look easy! Like the $60 3 foot extension! LOL! Ok, maybe it wasn't 3 feet... but it was pretty dang big! LOL! As mrray pointed out... it is alike a 4.5 hour install..

Ok... not the best of videos... I will try to get some better start ups and revs.. May be tougher getting a good WOT take off.. roads are snow covered here and it's friggin' COLD! LOL!

Listen closely with your headphones and you can here some subtle difference... the differences are much more pronounced in person... and as I mentioned the 90 minute drive seems to really improved the sound...

So here it is:

It sounds so much better in person, lol. They definitely add to the exhaust note going down the road too! I love them.

$320 for install? WOW, although, that's about right, considering most shops are charging $50-$60 per hour now. Might be a little high. The shop I went too is cutting me discounts just because they are getting to play with a new Camaro, lol. Jeff also wants to see if we can get to 300^2, 300rwhp w/ 300rwtq, naturally aspirated. He's into it enough, he's doing online research now, lol.

Anyway, nice vid scrming. I wish I had some video editing software, lol.

Top rated shops in big metro areas can easily get $100 an hour... So yeah, a lot depends on where you live...

and thanks! I will try and get some better video today... I did notice as i got home that a nice easy take off from the stop lights sounded amazing!!! (I had the windows down even though it was like 15 degrees out! LOL!)
