Winter Tires, Studs or not
Winter is here, well at least where I am (Russia), For city driving over tarmac, should I go with studs or without? It will get about 20-30 below at times, so will be a lot of ice and snow. Getting many suggestions from people would like to hear what you think, thanks

I would definitely go with the studs for uncomparable traction.

Thanks, but I heard that stopping distance is worse with the studs

On what? powder snow maybe... But how many times you see roads covered by powder snow. All I see is "black ice" or ice covered roads or snow that has packed to icy layer. And if there is powder snow on road, theres ice under it anyway... |

you should be fine with studless they have come a long way. but for unmatched traction (starting and stopping) get the studs....

Most Russians use studded Gislaved snow tires don't they? Everyone that I have heard from in Russia uses studded snows.

I have done some research yesturday, none of the places have studded front tires for the RS package car. The rear are fine, but not the front. So now I ether have to get 18" with tires (which is like twice the price ) or get the studless. There is a big problem finding studded tires if you have the RS package. Pirelli makes the summer but not the winter for the RS. Oh and 80Zedder, about the chicks, it is unbelievable;-)! Like a kid in a candy shop;-) Especially with the Camaro, it's just too easy;-)

Most modern Ice and Snow tires out perform most studded tires. Even on Ice. See this test we did on the ice rink.
